Job Description

Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team, with a particular focus on supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and autism. You will play a crucial role in helping us create a nurturing and effective learning environment. Working closely with teachers, you will help deliver engaging lessons, provide vital one-on-one support, and champion an inclusive classroom atmosphere where every child can thrive and develop.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver creative lessons adapted to diverse learning needs. Offer tailored support to students with special educational needs, including those with disabilities and autism, ensuring they are fully integrated and able to participate in all classroom activities. Build positive, trusting relationships with students, acting as a mentor and motivator to boost their confidence and engagement. Contribute to a positive classroom environment by proactively managing behaviour and implementing agreed-upon strategies. Lead individual and small-group sessions to reinforce learning concepts and provide extra help where needed. Maintain clear and professional communication with teachers and parents regarding student progress, achievements, and any concerns. Help prepare and maintain a safe, organised, and resource-rich learning space.

Requirements

Experience working with children, especially in a school or educational setting, is highly valued. Familiarity with special education practices and experience supporting individuals with disabilities or autism is a strong advantage. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect effectively with students, colleagues, and parents. Prior experience in tutoring or mentoring is beneficial, demonstrating an ability to support student learning. A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude, with a genuine desire to help every child succeed. Relevant qualifications in education or child development are a plus, but not essential. We welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals who are committed to making a positive impact and possess the core skills to excel in this role.
