Job Details

Salary: Grade 3, 24,796-25,185 pro rate (equivalent to 12.85 to 13.05 per hour)



Contract Type: Temporary, but with the possibility of becoming permanent in due course



Working Pattern: 8.20-3.20pm term time only



Location: Haywards Heath



Interviews: Week beginning 10 November 2025



What You Need to Succeed



Harlands Primary School is looking to recruit a number of Teaching Assistants to start as soon as possible. The roles will include general classwork, interventions and specific 1:1 support linked to individual children. All roles will be temporary to start with, but with the possibility of becoming permanent.



The hours of work for all our Teaching Assistants are normally between 8.20am-3.20pm. Teaching Assistants are asked to carry out lunch duties with the children. They will be able to take a break for their own lunch, usually between 1.00-1.30pm but the timing may vary, depending upon the needs of the children and the availability of additional support.



The successful candidates will:


Be enthusiastic, caring, well-motivated and adaptable Be patient, sensitive, firm and tactful Work well as part of a friendly and successful school team Maintain confidentiality Have some knowledge and/or experience of working with primary children, and for 1:1 roles candidates will need experience of SEN Plan differentiated learning tasks to support pupils Show an active appreciation of the important role break-times and lunchtimes play in a child's social and emotional development Be suitably qualified with good basic mathematical skills, and able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in a variety of settings (GCSE Grade C+ or equivalent) An NVQ2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification is desirable, but not essential. (The roles available may provide a pathway to gaining a Teaching Assistant qualification in the future.)
