This exciting role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your clinical skills and enhance your understanding of all aspects of vascular surgery. You will also be expected to participate in teaching undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees. There are ample opportunities to be involved in research if desired and this would be supported by the highly experienced research team.There will be regular clinical duties, which will include a 1:10 vascular registrar on-call, 1:10 registrar of the week, and participation in outpatient clinics and theatre sessions as well as supporting the ward. Your research commitment will be equally split with your clinical commitment. The job is EWTD compliant.This job would be suitable for either full time or as a part time job share post.Main duties of the job6 month fixed term- 1 year fixed term contract offered dependant on performance and following a competitive recruitment processAn opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Fellow in Vascular Surgery at St George's Vascular Institute, St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.Applicants must have completed Basic Surgical Training at the time of taking up the post. Applications from trainees already in Higher Surgical Training are also encouraged as OOPR placements. The post combines research leading to a higher degree (MD(Res) or PhD) with undergraduate teaching and clinical duties. The clinical workload will include participating in the vascular surgery on-call rota. The post would be suitable for higher surgical trainees wishing to pursue a career within Vascular Surgery, with experience of vascular and endovascular procedures. The post is for one year subject to performance review, with a two or three year duration being normal to complete a higher degree.The successful candidate will support the present provision of vascular surgical services to the populations of South-West London and surrounding areas as key members of our dynamic clinical team.About usSt George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the regional specialist care provider for South-West London, Surrey and beyond.   • Previous involvement in undergraduate/ postgraduate medical teaching and assessment
  • Ability to assess patients with a comprehensive history and physical examination
  • Ability to make management plans
  • Ability to triage between different priorities
  • Experience of looking after vascular surgical inpatients
