Esther House is a dedicated children's care provider offering medium to long term placements, for looked after children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and mild mental health difficulties and mild learning disabilities. Our children's home in Benfleet, Essex provides tailored care to support children's development, independence, and well-being in a nurturing setting.
About the role
As a Team Leader, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people aged 8-18 years old. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will guide and support a team of support workers, ensuring that daily operations align with the highest standards of care and meet each child's individual needs.
Key responsibilities
Leadership and support
: mentor and supervise support staff, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
Care Planning:
Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing personalised care plans, ensuring that each young person's health, educational, and emotional needs are met.
Behavioural support
: Use positive behaviour management techniques to encourage children's development, managing challenging behaviours constructively.
Safeguarding and Compliance
: Ensure all activities comply with safeguarding policies and legal requirements, maintaining a safe, welcoming, and child-centred environment.
Team collaboration
: Work closely with other staff, social workers, and external agencies to support young people's progress and well-being.
Record-Keeping
: Maintain accurate records of care activities, incidents, and progress, ensuring confidentiality and attention to detail.
On-Call Duties
: Participate in on-call responsibilities as required, providing additional support and continuity of care.
About you
Experience
: Minimum 2 years of experience in a children's residential care setting, with experience in a supervisory or senior role preferred.
Qualifications
: A Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent (Level 4 or willingness to work toward it is advantage).
Skills
: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with compassionate and resilient nature, IT skills, English and Maths qualifications as desirable but not essential.
Knowledge
: Familiarity with safeguarding practices, regulatory standards, and behaviour management techniques.
