About Gem Care Homes
We're a family-run organisation with heart at the centre of everything we do. Rooted in strong values and a therapeutic approach, we create nurturing environments for children with additional needs, helping them thrive emotionally, socially, and physically. Our homes aren't just places to live -- they're places where children feel safe, supported, and valued.
The Role
We're seeking a dedicated and compassionate
Team Leader
to inspire and guide a small team within our children's residential home. The role is shift-based -- including early, late, sleep-ins, long days, weekends and bank holidays -- reflecting the 24/7 care we provide.
You'll champion care planning, lead therapeutic activities tailored to each child's needs, and help foster a culture of inclusion and curiosity. Our children may use Makaton, signs, or symbols to communicate -- and we embrace every tool that helps us listen with empathy.
As a Team Leader
, you'll play a vital role in supporting and developing both staff and children, helping to shape the ethos of the home and contribute to its future direction.
In return, you'll be part of a nurturing and collaborative management team committed to supporting your personal growth and professional development--empowering you to thrive in your leadership journey.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Home Manager and Deputy to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
Lead by example -- guiding staff through care plans and risk assessments.
Encourage child-centred practices that promote wellbeing, development and joy.
Coordinate with professionals across healthcare, education and social services.
Nurture inclusive, supportive relationships among staff and the children in our care.
What You'll Bring
Calm, confident leadership and a collaborative mindset.
Knowledge of learning disabilities and children's residential care.
Ability to motivate a team, even during high-pressure moments.
Willingness to work towards (or completion of) a Level 3 Children & Young People qualification.
A driver's licence is desirable to support flexibility across the service.
What We Offer
Generous holiday pay and performance bonuses.
Health and wellbeing initiatives that support your work/life balance.
Professional mentoring and genuine opportunities for career growth.
A heartfelt team culture that celebrates your impact, every single day.
If you're ready to make a lasting difference and lead with care, apply today.
