To join a committed residential care team supporting young people aged 8-18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The Team Leader plays a vital role in ensuring the physical, emotional, and social development of young people at The Banyan Tree, helping them thrive in a safe, supportive, and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively within the residential team to uphold safe, effective care practices at all times.
Support the Home Manager in all operational aspects of the home, ensuring care standards align with its aims and objectives.
Foster a warm, secure, and nurturing environment, participating in the daily organisation and planning of the home.
Maintain accurate records for each young person, support care plan implementation, and contribute to written reports and documentation.
Attend planning, review, and multi-agency meetings as required.
Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing the home's policies and procedures.
Lead shifts, delegate tasks, and ensure care staff work in accordance with policies, procedures, and individual care plans.
Oversee and participate in day-to-day household responsibilities including cleaning, cooking, gardening, and general upkeep.
Engage in activities with residents such as cycling, walking, swimming, or games, using your own skills and interests to enhance their experiences.
Administer medication as required and maintain accurate records.
Take part in sleep-in duties and be available to respond to emergencies.
Represent the home professionally when dealing with enquiries and performing administrative tasks (e.g. logging incidents, maintaining case files, accident/incident forms).
Provide a positive role model for both staff and young people, promoting consistency and professionalism.
Additional Responsibilities
Encourage and facilitate appropriate contact between residents and their families.
Maintain effective working relationships with external agencies, including social workers, education staff, and health professionals.
Promote responsibility and respect among residents for the home's environment, supporting them in maintaining both personal and shared living spaces.
Demonstrate emotional resilience, assertiveness, and maturity in a high-pressure and often challenging setting.
Intervene safely and appropriately in high-risk situations, following the home's behaviour management policies and relevant legislation.
Act as a key worker for assigned residents, providing regular 1:1 support and contributing to care plan development and delivery.
Attend training, staff meetings, and supervision sessions to support professional development and team cohesion.
Undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the Manager in line with the needs of the service.
