We are looking for a compassionate and experienced team leader to join our team in Liverpool. The successful candidate will have a background working with children in residential children homes settings. You will play a key role in providing specialized care and support to our precious children.

Role Summary:



The role of team leader is to support the Registered Manager in the day to day running of the complex care provision, including deputising for the deputy manager as and when required. The key responsibilities will be to assist the Registered Manager in the management and development of the home and support staff to drive the delivery of an excellent quality service for the children in our care at helping care

As team leader within the home you must ensure a consistently high standard of care in accordance with legislation, central government guidance, regulations and standards, and the policies and procedures of the company.

At all times the team leader's behaviour, performance and conduct must promote a positive image of helping care that reflects the company's vision, mission and purpose.

You will be accountable to the Registered Manager and deputy manager; our job descriptions are all written with the following key points. To achieve excellence in everything we do. Helping care "primary purpose" is to make a positive contribution to the lives of children in our care settings.

Responsibilities:



You will be required to carry out a range of duties within your role. The key responsibilities are detailed below but there will be other duties consistent with the role that you may be requested to undertake by your line manager. You will safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in the home by being familiar with and aware of the children's home's safeguarding policy, procedures and guidelines and to always adhere to them.

Lead, exemplify and evaluate excellent practice. To ensure a high standard of practice within your staff teams.

Monitor and revise children's care and placement plans ensuring the identified needs of the children are being met and be accountable for the overall quality of these documents. To bring to the attention of a deputy manager or registered manager any matter for concern over the well-being, safety or safeguarding of a child we support.

Our Staff:



Ensure the effectiveness of staff through regular support and supervision, development opportunities and the application of HR policies.

Coach, train and mentor staff up to residential support workers level to enable them to lead and deliver best practice. Promote a culture of continuous professional development for all, where learning and development activity is closely linked to individual, team and organisational priorities. Statutory and mandatory training and/or qualifications are achieved within agreed timeframes. Promote the health and safety of employees at work and of people supported through the implementation of helping care corporate Policy for Health, Safety and Welfare at Work in accordance with all relevant statutory requirements. To be accountable and take responsibility for applying your learning, training and skills to ensure staff support the children/children in a way which embodies great interactions, through active support, using people's preferred method of communication and to act as a role model with this.

To ensure all new staff are managed and supported using the guidance and documentation in their probation induction and objectives.

To ensure that all staff have personal development plans that identify and address areas of training needs and support their continued professional development. To ensure that all staff undertake all required and mandatory training and that they also have opportunities for further CPD as agreed through appraisal or supervision sessions.

To model excellent support and to use and embed all relevant plans for the children placed within our services

To always maintain professional boundaries with all children, staff, visitors and families. To act promptly, fairly and clearly on any issue involving poor practice from a staff member, ensuring this is clearly documented, with agreed actions. You will review and as necessary consult with HR.

Requirements:


- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a residential support worker within a registered children's home setting

- Level 3/4 children and young people workforce diploma
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with children, professionals and families
- Ability to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and ability to ensure compliance
- Prior experience in supervising staff members in a children's home setting

Principle Responsibilities



To ensure Support Workers deliver all their duties as per their job description To ensure best practice in all service delivery across all areas of responsibility Responsible for reporting of all incidents, concerns and malpractice to relevant authorities To support the RM with accounting for all monies spent on behalf of all children to produce receipts for any expenditure To support the RM to ensure weekly safety and maintenance checks are carried out and the correct action taken and documented. To complete a daily check on medications, to include that all medications are signed and no gaps on MARS, box counts are correct, new medication is checked in by 2 staff members and signed, to also include children who self-medicate. Support/Goal plans to be reviewed monthly or sooner and robust risk assessments are in place and again reviewed monthly or sooner To ensure all Key Working sessions are completed regularly to capture conversations with children to allow them to develop, educate and engage children with their care plan To support the RM in participating in taking a delegated lead role in the development of the overall progress and outcomes for children To work with children both on an individual and group basis on a wide range of activities which meet the identified needs of the individual and which can contribute to securing a valued life style for the person/people involved To facilitate and enable children to access and utilise the resources and activities available within the community To liaise on a regular basis with children Families, Friends, Advocates and any professionals as necessary To promote family time for children and safely facilitate as and when required To support the RM/DCM with supervisions (1-1) with all staff on a monthly basis or sooner if the need arises To effectively induct staff into the children's home in line with the workforce development plan To support with team meetings To ensure all children are Safeguarded in accordance with local policies at all times Ensuring the daily tasks in the children's home are completed and the home is kept clean and tidy at all times To cover sickness, annual leave etc., this will include working weekends and nights To attend training provided by the Company To carry out any other reasonable duties which are within the scope of this post
