The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person who is looking for an opportunity to develop their leadership and management skills while providing the essential Line Management function for an established team of Explosives Engineers based across two sites.

You will be responsible for the management and development of the team that primarily provides OME management services to the Shoeburyness and Fort Halstead sites but whose skills are sometimes required at other sites across the UK.

It is expected that Line Management duties will take up 20-30% of the Team Leaders\' time.

What will I be doing?

• Being the primary Point of Contact for the pastoral and administrative requirements of the team members
• Providing guidance and advice on individual development that is aligned to the wider business requirements
• Communicating with the team through regular team meetings and one-to-one sessions
• Regularly liaising with the Group Leader and Heads of Site to ensure that the team complement and competencies meet the business demands.
• It is expected that the incumbent would have the OME technical skills and relevant experience to complement the competencies of the team and that they would be widely employed in a technical delivery role commensurate with their Global Grade and expertise.

• Deep understanding of OME regulatory requirements.
• Deep understanding of OME Storage, Processing, Handling and Transportation requirements.
• Ability to challenge poor behaviours and make corrective changes in their team and in others.
• Experience of developing and line managing others and building effective teams
• Experienced in providing OME advice, assurance and best practice.
• Delivery and technical leadership experience.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to quickly understand the broad and diverse technical domains that their team supports and the implications to the development and sustainment of capability.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Leadership and capability development of teams
• Strong OME technical background

• Good standard of general education, especially numeracy and literacy.
