Job Summary



This is a 4-on/4-off rotating shift position covering both days and nights. You will work 12-hour shifts (6-18, 18-6) with an hourly rate of 16.00, and approved overtime is 21.00.

As the Paper Yard Team Leader, you will be responsible for the proper movement of paper bales and materials throughout the Paper yard and Plastics Canopy whilst ensuring efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities



Team Leadership - Lead and coordinate your team to ensure efficient and safe operations. Set clear goals, provide direction and foster a collaborative environment to meet daily KPI targets. Monitor team performance and manage underperforming team members, escalating issues to management when required. Health and Safety - Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards to protect workers and avoid legal issues. Perform regular audits across all yard processes to confirm safety standards are being followed. Investigate all safety incidents, practice the stop-call-wait escalation procedure and complete a full investigation report for any reportable incidents. Promote proper safety standards using the Saica safety observation cards. Trailer Unloading and Yard Management - Oversee the quality inspection, booking in and unloading of trailers, ensuring safe and efficient stacking, quality control and grading standards. Ensure reject materials, solid object checks, sampling analysis and fibre testing activities are processed correctly with grading standards across the yard are maintained to customer standards. Control stock levels in consumption and manage the movement of recycling skips within cycle time. Training and Versatility - Provide guidance and training to both new starters and existing staff. Utilise the training tools provided and guidance from management to increase versatility across your shift. Ensure team member training is provided to the correct standards with the correct documentation and encourage team members to increase versatility and develop new skills. Communication - Clearly convey instructions, toolbox talk updates, and information from the yard supervisor to ensure everyone is aligned and informed. Act as the primary link between yard operatives and shift managers and maintain effective communication with Saica to escalate issues and manage daily operations. Process Audits - Perform layered audits each shift to check for conformance to safety standards and process adherence, providing constructive feedback and follow up for any persons audited. KPI Reporting - Update all KPIs, trackers and shift reports associated with the paper yard operation. Present the paper yard team board to the management team on day shift and attend site meetings as and when required. Housekeeping and Environmental - Maintain high levels of housekeeping and cleanliness across all areas of the paper yard. Organise regular cleaning activities and complete forklift truck and JCB deep cleaning in line with schedule. Ensure proper handling of hazardous waste and oversee fire prevention, alarm investigations and Saica escalations. Perform other duties as assigned. To include backfill support during breaks, staff shortages and peak demand periods and any other tasks deemed necessary by management to support the operation. Know and comply with the policies of the Integrated Management System, the Paper Yard Operating Manual and Site Safety Rules. Work following the processes defined in the organisation. Ensure order and cleanliness in your area of responsibility. Make responsible use of resources and raw materials. o Properly segregate waste using the containers provided for this purpose. Ensure your own safety, always complying with the safety measures and HSE regulations applicable. Use appropriately and responsibly the personal protective equipment required for your position. Comply with the measures implemented in the information security risk control and prevention systems. Report any conduct that you consider may pose a risk to information security and, in particular, to the security of personal data.

Experience required for the position:



Previous experience in warehouse or yard operations. Strong leadership skills with minimum 1-2 years' experience managing or supervising a team. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing workloads. Good communication and organisational skills. Valid forklift license (B2 counterbalance or equivalent) Ability to work in an outdoor, industrial environment.
