Deafblind UK is looking for a Team Leader to join our care and support team, working closely with the Registered Manager to provide leadership to staff and life-changing support to our tenants.
We're passionate about supporting people who are deafblind or have sensory loss to live the lives they choose. This is a role where you'll make a real difference every day - both to the people we support and to the team you lead.
What you'll be doing
As Team Leader, you'll play a vital role in making sure our tenants can live as independently as possible. That means everything from helping someone manage their day-to-day activities like shopping, appointments and finances, through to providing personal care when needed - always with dignity, respect and choice at the centre.
This is a varied role, with a mix of office-based responsibilities and frontline support. You'll also take part in the on-call rota, and you must be able to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the service.
You'll also be a role model for the team - supervising, supporting and guiding staff to deliver great care, making sure rotas reflect tenants' needs, and stepping in when the Registered Manager is away. You'll build positive relationships with families, Social Workers and other professionals, and you'll always keep safeguarding front and centre.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be people-centred, empowering and passionate about delivering personalised support. You'll be a natural leader who can motivate, supervise and develop others, while feeling confident in making decisions and managing risk. You will be organised, proactive and adaptable to changing needs, with a clear and engaging communication style and excellent written skills.
You should hold a QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care, or be willing to work towards this, and ideally have British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 or above - or at least be enthusiastic about learning. You will already have at least one year's experience in a line management role, along with a background in supporting people with disabilities in a care setting. You should also bring an understanding of safeguarding procedures and good IT skills. A full driving licence and access to your own transport is required, although reasonable adjustments will be considered if you are disabled.
Why join us?
At Deafblind UK, you'll be part of a warm, supportive team where your ideas are valued, and your development is encouraged. We'll provide you with full training, including BSL, and support you every step of the way. Together, we make a real difference to people's lives every day.
