We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Care Team Leader to join our team at Roop Cottage Residential care home . The successful candidate will play a vital role in the daily management of the care floor, providing leadership and support to a team of Care Assistants.
As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the highest quality person-centred care to our residents, promoting their dignity, independence, and well-being at all times. You will act as a key link between our care team and senior management, ensuring clear communication and a positive working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Supervision:
Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of Care Assistants during your shifts, providing guidance, instruction, and support.
Oversee the fair and effective delegation of duties to the care team.
Conduct shift handovers to ensure a seamless and safe continuity of care.
Assist in the induction, training, and ongoing development of new and existing care staff.
Participate in staff supervision meetings, appraisals, and team meetings.
Care Delivery and Resident Wellbeing:
Ensure that residents' individualised care plans are implemented, reviewed, and updated regularly in collaboration with residents, their families, and healthcare professionals.
Administer medication in line with company policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements, ensuring all documentation (e.g., MAR charts) is accurately completed.
Act as a Key Worker for a designated group of residents, taking a lead role in their care planning and review process.
Support residents with all aspects of their daily living, including personal care, mobility, and social activities, while promoting choice and independence.
Liaise professionally with residents' families, GPs, district nurses, and other external stakeholders.
Compliance and Administration:
Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential records of resident care and support.
Ensure all care delivery complies with the standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and internal policies.
Conduct regular audits (e.g., medication, care plans) as directed by the management team.
Report any accidents, incidents, or safeguarding concerns promptly and according to established procedures.
Take charge of the home in the absence of senior management, responding effectively to emergencies.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
Proven experience working as a Senior Care Assistant or in a similar supervisory role within a residential or nursing care setting.
Certified and experienced in the safe administration of medication.
A strong understanding of person-centred care principles and CQC regulations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
A compassionate, patient, and respectful demeanor.
Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
Desirable Criteria:
NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
Specialist training in areas such as Dementia Care, Palliative Care, or Mental Capacity Act.
Experience in conducting staff supervisions or appraisals.
First Aid at Work certification.
