Core Purpose & Leadership Accountability
Reporting to the Deputy/Registered Manager, you will be primarily responsible for the supervision, guidance, and assessment of our Residential Support Workers. Your purpose is to lead the team in creating an emotionally secure, consistent, and nurturing environment that enables young people to realise their full potential.
Shift Management & Staff Delegation:
Take command of daily operations, organise rotas, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure all staff are aware of routines, care plans, and intervention strategies.
Regulatory & Quality Oversight:
Deputise for the Deputy/Registered Manager when required, ensuring full shift-to-shift compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and SCCIF.
Practice Supervision & Development:
Serve as an excellent role model, providing direct, high-quality care, and conducting staff supervision meetings and development sessions to promote professional growth.
Safeguarding and Advocacy:
Lead the promotion of an open culture where young people feel safe to complain. Ensure all statutory review and meeting requirements are met within required timescales.
Behavioural Strategy:
Consistently apply and contribute to the review of therapeutic strategies developed in response to challenging behaviours.
What You'll Bring
We are looking for a committed professional who understands the dynamics of residential childcare and is driven by an anti-discriminatory practice.
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
(or equivalent) is essential.
A commitment to achieve Level 4 in Residential Care within two years of appointment.
Up-to-date knowledge of Childcare Law, Child Protection Laws, and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015/Quality Standards
.
Experience in working with children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) in a residential setting.
Required Qualities:
Proven supervisory experience in guiding, directing, and developing a staff team.
Initiative, integrity, and honesty.
An accessible and supportive management style that promotes a harmonious and professional working culture.
Excellent organisational, time management, and administrative skills.
Full driving licence is required for activities and home duties.
