Wathwood Hospital is a regional medium secure hospital and part of the forensic care group which includes other Low, medium and high secure services. We pride ourselves on providing a high standard of person-centred care.



We are seeking to recruit Band 6 team leaders to join our fantastic multi-disciplinary teams within the hospital to provide effective and safe assessment, risk management, care and treatment to aid recovery and further the patient journey. Our team leaders take responsibility for the hospital out of hours providing cover on a senior nurse on site roster.



You must be able to work a 7-day week, 24-hour shift pattern, including regular night shifts. You must be an RMN registered with the NMC. Options for flexible working and part-time working are available.

As a Team Leader you will be required to take charge of shifts, lead a team of nurses and healthcare professionals on the ward and ensure patients receive a high standard of individualised patient care which assists their recovery. As a Team Leader you will ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of both staff and patients are not compromised. Y ou will be expected to deputise for the Ward Manager to achieve required standards of practice and communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary team.



You will be required to complete mandatory training to assist your professional development.

Clinical Management :



To take charge of the ward on a regular basis and have delegated trust in the absence of the Ward Manager to manage the allocated resources to maintain their effectiveness and efficiency, taking appropriate action to meet set standards and targets. Responsible for the supervision and deployment of staff and will be required to develop/teach nursing and non-nursing staff.



Clinical Practice :



To participate fully as a member of a multi-disciplinary team including assessment of care needs, the development/implementation of evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards. As a prime care provider, initiate, implement and evaluate operational policies and clinical practice against agreed criteria.



Health Promotion :



Assisting patients in maintaining their physical well-being, co-existing within Health of the Nation targets.



Quality :



To take personal responsibility for providing a high quality service, for areas within their areas of practice.



Risk :



To undertake personal responsibility for ensuring risk assessments are carried out and implemented within patients' care programmes .



Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is 26.40 (standard) or 54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.



You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of 16 per year applies.
