Summary



Due to retirement we are currently recruiting for a Team Leader (Tech Operative Level) in Packing. You will be working 8.5 hours per day (07.00 to 16.00 [30 minutes unpaid break]), 5 days a week in both the High Care and Low Care Areas.

Purpose Of The Role:



To lead the teams in Pre-Pack (High-Care and Low Care) to ensure all aspects of the area are managed and continuously improved. This includes strict adherence to Food Safety, Health & Safety, People Operations and other relevant company policies.

To train and develop the team to meet the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:



Low Care:



1. Complete Daily / Weekly production plans as communicated out from planning function / Packing Manager / General Packing Manager.

2. Set Low Care line area up each morning with packaging / labels / coding required against the daily production plan, liaising with High Care personnel regarding High Care line area set up for the same / correct product.

3 . Organise and supervise staff to fulfill point 1, and to ensure all the relevant controls, procedures and policies are followed paying particular attention to food safety, conducting investigations and disciplinaries as per company policy when there has been a procedural breach.

4. Liaise with all internal departments, including Engineering, Quality Control and Planning to ensure smooth, efficient and economical production runs with correct details and packaging in use.

5. Have direct contact with the Packing Manager, General Packing Manager on a daily basis with regard to line and staff performance, reporting any instances of malfunction, downtime and staffing issues.

6. Organise and maintain (with Packaging Store Controller) timely availability of all packaging and coding required.

7. Maintain and record all label and packaging sample sheets as required to complete Quality and systems

8. Complete information and record sheets for Quality Control / Planning functions to enable packed orders / stocks to be reconciled through QIS onto Business Central.

9. Working within all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Food Safety, Authenticity, Legality and Quality Standards.

High Care:



1. To ensure safe and timely cutting and packing of all portions of cheese.

2. Assist with the assembly of all High Care area machinery at start of shift as instructed. Monitor performance of all cutting equipment during each shift. Responsible for keeping de-bagging and cutting equipment running in line with training given, engineering instructions and equipment user manuals.

3. Organise and maintain (with packaging store controller) timely availability of all packaging and coding required.

4. Liaise with General Manager Packing and Packing Manager with regard to production plans to ensure timely availability of contact packaging.

5. Inspect, check and reject received blocks where necessary to all the company instructions, policies and guidelines.

6. Work in a safe manner both personally and with other team members, ensuring safe working practices and health and safety guidelines are always followed, and all other internal policies are adhered to.

7. Report any non-conformances/machine faults/issues with cheese/incorrect coding details to the Packing Manager and / or the General Manager Packing.

8. Ensure correct personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn in High Care packing area.

9. Ensuring Q/C team are compliant in their day to day duties, giving support and guidance when needed

10. Consult Pre-pack production boards to gauge all daily plans.

11. Order and receive from packaging store material requirements for all planned shifts/product lines.

12. Assist with the assembly of all High Care cutting and wrapping equipment daily and complete set up checks and record sheets.

13. Make ready Flow wrapping machines with required films to complete plans/orders, recording film batch numbers and amount used for traceability purposes.

14. Monitor performance of cutting equipment, rectify issues where trained to do so and report machine faults to engineering team.

15. Liaise with the engineering team during down time to ensure un-cut blocks are kept covered in the appropriate manner.

16. Renew broken wires as required, document breakages on cutting wire procedure document.

17. Set up, maintain and keep all production line print coders running correctly during shift.

18. At appropriate times, feed the cutting equipment manually where there is no automated infeed conveyor system available.

19. At the end of production assist with stripping the de-bagging, cutting and wrapping equipment for cleaning as per training.

Overseeing of the QC Team:



1. To cover the Quality Control Operative role, to meet the needs of the business.

2. To assist with training and up-skilling of staff.

3. To assist Technical with any prepack documents / audits / procedures.

4. Ensuring Q/C team are compliant in their day-to-day duties, giving support and guidance when needed.

5. Working within all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Food Safety, Authenticity, Legality and Quality Standards.

General:



To carry out any other work or task determined to be within your level of competence, to meet the needs of the business.

Essential



Excellent Communication skills.

Excellent Organisation qualities.

Unbiased approach to all staff members.

2 years + experience in a supervisory role / environment.

5 years' experience in Food Production or similar.

Food safety - Level 2 certificate. Excellent numeracy and literacy at secondary education level.

Good IT skills, such as ECDL.

Knowledge and experience gained in operating within a food manufacturing environment.

Understanding of process and equipment.

Manual Handling.

Desirable



Management / Supervisory Qualification.

Able to make decisions on own initiative.

Strong / Authoritative character.

4 GCSE's (grade 6 or above including Maths & English)

NVQ Level 3 in Leadership & Management.

People Management Training.

Experience of using common Microsoft Office suite/EXCEL &Teams.
