Experienced Team Leader Yacht Painter

Job overview

Berthon is looking for an experienced Yacht painter/ supervisor to lead our team of highly skilled painters and their apprentices on private yacht, commercial and defence vessel projects in our modern purpose-built facilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for painting and providing a quality finish.

Key responsibilities

Prepare surfaces of a range of materials including GRP, metal and wood. Filling, fairing and masking to ensure top quality outcomes Experienced in the application of 2-pack paint systems including Alexseal, AkzoNobel and Jotun Maintain excellent housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and dust-free facility Maintain spray facilities and equipment to high standards The ability to lead and mentor a team of painters and allocate resources effectively to ensure quality and budget targets are met Training and development of apprentices Follow health and safety guidelines and promote a culture that ensures a safe working environment at all times. Maintain records including - paint application and equipment maintenance logs Motivation of self and team

Key skills

Excellent knowledge and application of surface preparation processes Excellent knowledge and application of paints and varnishes using spray and brush techniques Spraying ability to achieve an off-the gun finish to the highest standards Proven Marine industry track record Ability to lead and develop a continuous improvement culture Reliable with excellent attendance and timekeeping record Communicate effectively with team members and clients to understand project requirements and timelines.
