Job Overview



We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and proactive

Senior Carer / Lead Senior Carer

to join our care team. This role combines hands-on care delivery with leadership responsibilities, supporting both residents and care staff to ensure high-quality, person-centred care at all times.

The successful candidate will lead by example, promote dignity and independence, oversee safe care practices, and act as a key link between residents, families, staff, and management.

Reports To:

Registered Manager / Registered Nurse

Key ResponsibilitiesCare & Service User Support



Provide high-quality personal care, including bathing, dressing, mobility support, continence care, oral hygiene, and meal assistance Support residents with medication administration in line with company policies and procedures Monitor residents' wellbeing and promptly report any changes Write, review, and update person-centred care plans and risk assessments in line with individual needs and CQC requirements Ensure care plans, daily records, and documentation are accurate, up to date, and completed in a timely manner Promote dignity, choice, independence, and safeguarding at all times

Leadership & Staff Supervision



Lead and supervise carers and senior carers during shifts Take charge of shifts when required or in the absence of management Support staff induction, shadowing, and ongoing guidance Promote teamwork, equality, diversity, and positive working relationships Participate in staff meetings and support supervision processes

Communication & Family Liaison



Act as a key point of contact for residents, families, visitors, and professionals Provide regular care updates to families while maintaining confidentiality Handle phone calls, messages, and concerns professionally Escalate clinical, safeguarding, or medical concerns to the Registered Manager or Team Leader

Compliance, Quality & Safety



Ensure care delivery meets CQC regulations and company policies Use the QCS app to remain informed on safeguarding, infection control, mental capacity, and best practice Support audits, health & safety checks, and incident reporting Ensure all accidents, incidents, and communications are documented accurately

Daily Operations & Activities



Oversee daily records and ensure completion before the end of shift Report operational concerns such as staffing, maintenance, supplies, and safety issues Assist with light domestic duties, laundry, meal preparation, and refreshments Support and lead resident activities, entertainment, and engagement programmes Assist residents with shopping, finances, transport, appointments, and pet care where required

Working Pattern



5 days over a 7-day rota (including weekends)

Essential Requirements



NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) Good written and spoken English Previous experience working in a care setting Experience supervising or supporting staff Sound knowledge and experience in writing, reviewing, and maintaining person-centred care plans and documentation Knowledge of risk assessments and record keeping Ability to administer medication (training provided if required) Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

Desirable



Supervisory or management qualification Experience in a Senior or Lead Carer role Knowledge of rota planning and audits Interest in becoming a champion in areas such as safeguarding, medication management, dignity, infection control, or mental capacity
