Oakdale is seeking to recruit an experienced Team Manager to manage our clinical and support teams in our neurodevelopmental assessment service. This is a rapidly expanding and developing service which delivers ADHD and autism assessments on behalf of the NHS and for self-funded clients.


The Team Manager will be responsible for providing effective leadership and management to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high standards of clinical and operational performance. The post holder will support, develop, and manage a team of direct reports through regular supervision, performance review, and staff development. This role is key to delivering safe, efficient, and client-centered care. The successful candidate will work closely with our Resourcing Lead to ensure that our service is resourced effectively, including supporting the recruitment and onboarding process.


This is a demanding and hands-on role, requiring strong line management and organisational skills in the context of a growing organisation experiencing unprecedented demand for our services. The opportunity would suit an operationally minded professional with management experience and an interest in supporting clinical services within the neurodevelopmental field. Team Leadership and Support



Provide day-to-day line management to clinical and non-clinical staff within the team. Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, high performance, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with team members to provide feedback, support wellbeing, and identify development opportunities. Act as the first point of contact for associate clinicians, providing guidance, support, and oversight related to administrative matters and service delivery.

Performance and Appraisal Management



Lead the annual appraisal process, ensuring all staff have clear, measurable objectives aligned with team and organisational goals. Monitor individual and team performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate action plans. Provide coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback to promote professional growth and development.

Absence and Attendance Management



Monitor staff attendance and manage short- and long-term absences in accordance with organisational policy. Conduct return-to-work interviews and liaise with HR as appropriate. Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of required documentation related to staff absence.

Recruitment and Onboarding



Support the recruitment process by contributing to job planning, person specifications, shortlisting, and interviews. Work with HR and workforce teams to ensure timely and effective onboarding of new staff. Oversee the induction process for new starters, ensuring all mandatory training, orientation, and support systems are in place. Act as a point of contact for new staff, providing guidance and mentorship during the initial employment period.

Workforce Planning and Development



Ensure appropriate staff cover and skill mix to meet service needs, working closely with the Resourcing Lead and wider ND Leadership Team. Contribute to workforce planning, training needs analysis, and succession planning for the team. Support the induction and ongoing development of new staff.

Quality and Compliance



Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and clinical governance standards. Promote a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement within the team. Participate in audits, service reviews, and service development initiatives as required.

About you:



Essential:



Experience in managing or supervising clinical and/or support staff. Experience in the recruitment and onboarding of staff. Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and support others. Ability to manage priorities in a dynamic healthcare environment. Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills. Excellent organisational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage competing priorities. Ability to handle sensitive and complex situations with discretion, professionalism, and empathy. Effective communication skills - both written and verbal. Excellent interpersonal skills; able to establish and develop effective working relationships with colleagues and to represent the organisation professionally both externally and with clients. Supportive and reflective leadership style. Commitment to Oakdale's values. Driving licence & access to a vehicle.

Desirable:



A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics. Postgraduate qualification in leadership, management, or a related field. Experience managing associate clinicians or contracted clinical staff. Familiarity with digital healthcare systems, such as electronic health records (EHRs). Experience working in a mental health or psychological therapy service (e.g., IAPT, CAMHS, community mental health).
