Job description

Location: Ulverston or Barrow-in-Furness

Contract Type: Permanent

About this opportunity

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for leadership, logistics, and community impact? Join our dynamic Community Equipment Service as a Team Manager and play a vital role in ensuring people across Westmorland and Furness receive the essential support they need, exactly when and where they need it.

Westmorland and Furness CES service provides essential equipment to support people's independence, safety, and well-being at home. Serving a large rural area the service ensures timely delivery, collection, and maintenance of items like daily living aids and specialist beds and seating enabling hospital discharges and helping individuals live comfortably and independently in their own homes.

The service primarily operates from its main store in Ulverston with a second store located in Penrith, to support wider geographical coverage across the area of Westmorland and Furness. In 2026 the Ulverston store is set to relocate to a new modern facility in Barrow, enhancing service efficiency and capacity.

As Team Manager you will play a key role in leading operations across these sites, ensuring seamless coordination, consistent standards, and smooth transitions between locations to maintain high quality service delivery throughout this important period of development.

Although the role is based at the main store in Ulverston, there is an expectation to travel regularly to provide on-site support to staff across the service area and to attend management and development opportunities across the wider Care Services and Adult Social Care Directorate.

Who we are looking for...

Making a real difference in people's lives - every single day

This is more than a coordination role. You'll oversee the day-to-day logistics of equipment delivery, collection, and maintenance, ensuring that every item reaches service users swiftly, safely, and with care. From specialist beds and seating to daily living aids you'll make sure resources are in the right place at the right time to support timely hospital discharges, independence at home, and improved quality of life

You will be at the forefront of strategic service delivery contributing to key developments and improvements that shape the future of the service. With the voice of the customer driving your decisions, and the challenges of a rural geography in mind, your leadership will ensure efficient responsive and high-quality outcomes

If you are ready to lead operational excellence, influence future service design, and make a real difference where it's needed most, we'd love to hear from you.

"Leading this service is a real privilege. Every team member plays a vital role in helping people live independently and I'm constantly inspired by their commitment and care. It's not just about equipment - it's about dignity, safety and making a real impact in our communities every single day."

"Being part of the admin team means I get to support the whole service from taking urgent requests to coordinating deliveries. It's fast-paced and challenging but knowing that we're helping people stay safe and independent at home makes it all worthwhile."
