Job Summary:
As Technical and Compliance Manager at Pointer Ltd, you will be the driving force behind the maintenance and continuous improvement of our Integrated Management System (IMS) in line with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22301, ISO 27001, and ISO 45001) and other regulatory frameworks, such as NSI and EcoVadis. You will ensure system compliance, operational efficiency, and readiness for external certification audits.
This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a strong background in auditing and management systems. You will champion a culture of customer focus, quality, and continuous improvement, providing expert guidance to teams and working closely with senior management to meet compliance and performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Integrated Management System Oversight
Maintain and update IMS documentation and policies, ensuring accessibility, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Oversee change management processes affecting the IMS.
Ensure alignment with ISO and regulatory requirements.
Maintain Document Management System to allow access to IMS information to all colleagues.
Audit Management
Plan, conduct, and report on internal audits across all applicable ISO standards.
Liaise with external certification bodies and support successful audit outcomes.
Lead root cause analysis of non-conformities, incidents, and complaints to identify systemic improvements.
Assist our Supervisor / Management Team to meet their team inspecting and auditing requirements.
Participate in the Internal Verification process for the assessment material for our Modern Apprenticeship program.
Conduct site visits to inspect and audit our site operations to assess the operational controls of our IMS Systems.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Develop and report KPIs related to compliance and system performance.
Provide monthly updates through company communication channels, including the internal newsletter.
Analyse trends and performance data to inform decision-making and improvement initiatives.
Lead Management Review Meetings for each of our IMS Systems, reporting on progress and objectives.
Compliance and Risk Management
Monitor operational processes to ensure adherence to the IMS and other applicable standards.
Conduct supplier evaluations to assess IMS-related compliance and sustainability criteria.
Support departmental teams with compliance input during tender submissions and client proposals.
Support senior management to review and update Risk Registers.
Guidance and Culture
Provide expert advice to staff on the application and benefits of the IMS.
Foster a customer-centric, intent based leadership culture across the business.
Promote awareness and understanding of compliance responsibilities at all levels.
Competence and Awareness
Issue toolbox talks covering identified high risk areas of our IMS to all staff.
Regular reporting on Best Practice and Opportunities to Get Better.
Analysis of Competency Matrix and gaps to assist the Training and HR Departments.
Develop our Supervisors / Managers to provide the required IMS skills required to manage their teams effectively.
Sustainability (Environmental, Social and Governance)
Continual development of our IMS systems to integrate ESG requirements.
Co-ordination with other Business Heads to ensure compliance with ESG Systems.
Assist in the regular reporting of ESG KPI's to our clients.
Qualifications and Skills:
Relevant qualification in compliance, business, or safety management (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
Lead Auditor certification (preferred or working towards) in one or more ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, 27001, 45001).
In-depth understanding of ISO standards and regulatory frameworks such as NSI and EcoVadis.
Proven experience in auditing, compliance reporting, and documentation control.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and capable of analysing data from multiple sources.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
Able to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes under tight deadlines.
Full UK driving licence (essential for site audits and visits).
Experience:
Minimum 3 years in a compliance, auditing, or management systems role.
At least 2 years conducting internal audits across multiple ISO standards.
Demonstrated success in managing and improving IMS documentation and performance.
Experience guiding operational teams to meet output and quality expectations.
Track record of driving measurable improvements in compliance or quality systems.
