An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Modern Apprentice to gain valuable skills in the Technical Department within Venue Cymru's Theatre and Conference Centre, Llandudno which is part of the Economy & Culture Service for Conwy County Borough Council. The position is a shared apprenticeship with Wales Millennium Centre and the contract will be through them.
Venue Cymru is the regions busiest Entertainment and Conference Centre, comprising a 1500 seat auditorium, an Arena that can accommodate 2500 standing combined with prestigious Conference and Exhibition facilities.
The post holder must be able to work as part of a team and will be trained to work in all areas of the technical side of the business, which involves assisting with preparing, operating and maintaining all technical equipment and systems required for the presentation of the section's theatre, film and conference programme both at Venue Cymru, Llandudno, and Theatr Colwyn, in Colwyn Bay. You will be required to work evening, weekend and bank holidays on a rota basis.
Our aim is to appoint an enthusiastic and capable individual who has ambition and is looking to enter a challenging and rewarding career in Technical Theatre. Over the 12-months, you will have achieved a BIIAB Certificate (Level 3) in Technical Theatre (Stage, Lighting, & Sound) and completed the ABTT Bronze Award along with a PAT Testing course and will undertake a Total Solutions Rigging Certificate. Though subject to training schedules, successful applicants should expect to work on touring productions like Mamma Mia, Miss Saigon, Fawlty Towers The Play and Cinderella, our Pantomime at Christmas as well as several productions with the Welsh National Opera and countless other one night shows, events and exhibitions.
To ensure adequate bilingual provision within the section, the ability to communicate in English is essential and the ability to converse in Welsh would be desirable for this post.
