The Technical Build Operative will play a key role in managing and executing build orders for our digital signage and digital workspace solutions. This position involves preparing, configuring, and testing AV hardware and software to ensure seamless deployment. You will work closely with the operations and technical teams to deliver high-quality, reliable systems to our clients.
Main Duties
---------------
Order Management:
Receive and process build orders for AV systems and digital signage solutions.
Ensure build progress status is kept up to date
Liaise with Sales Order Procession, Purchasing and Project Managers regarding build dates.
Organise and prioritise build schedules
Hardware Setup & Configuration:
Unbox and configure media players, screens , and associated AV technologies.
Perform quality checks to ensure all components meet company standards.
Software Installation & Configuration:
Install and configure operating systems (Windows, Linux, Android, etc.) on media players.
Deploy and configure digital signage software and remote management tools
Apply updates, patches, and security configurations as required.
Testing & Troubleshooting:
Conduct functional tests on hardware and software before deployment
Diagnose and resolve technical issues during the build process
Pack and label ready for shipment by the logistics team
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain detailed build documentation for internal records
Report any technical challenges or improvements to the technical lead
Help to define advanced processes for the Digital Build team
Remote Player setup:
Working with partners across other countries to carry out remote player configuration and setup.
Requirements
----------------
Essential:
Previous experience in AV or IT hardware/software configuration.
Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, Android, IOS).
Understanding of Computer components and how they work together.
Ability to work with AV hardware (media players, screens, mounts, servers, tablets).
Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
Excellent communication skills .
Desirable:
Familiarity with
digital signage software
(e.g., BrightSign, Scala, Now Signage, Embed or similar).
Understanding of digital signage ecosystems and content management systems.
Familiar with Remote management software (Teamviewer, Logmein)
Understanding of Screen resolutions and orientation along with video / image formats.
Relevant certifications (CompTIA, AVIXA CTS, or similar) are a plus.
Please note: This role requires you to be on-site at our Reading office 5 days per week. Some out of hours work may be required, meaning this role is eligible for overtime payment.
