About The Role





We're looking for a capable and motivated Technical Buyer with strong technical knowledge and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic engineering environment.





Key responsibilities in this role:


Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate sourcing. Manage day-to-day procurement activity to meet MRP demands and ensure on-time delivery. Lead price and contract negotiations to secure favourable terms, costs, and schedules. Support Bid and Proposal activities as required. Collaborate with internal teams to understand project requirements and resolve queries efficiently. Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers based on capability, quality, delivery, and reliability. Create and manage purchase orders in line with company policies and compliance standards.



Skills And Experience




Ability to interpret technical specifications and have an understanding of manufacturing engineering standards. Higher level qualification in engineering/fabrication advantageous. Proven experience as a Technical Buyer within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Highly competent user in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint). Understanding of procurement processes desirable.



Where You Will Be Working





We have two main office locations: our head office based at the iconic South Rotunda building on the South bank of the River Clyde, and our impressive welding and fabrication facility at Westway Business Park, Renfrew. You will spend the majority of your time at our welding and fabrication facility at Westway Business Park, mixed with occasional visits to South Rotunda and home working (if desired).
