Scotland\'s Railway is part of this large family and it covers a large geographical area from the Borders to Thurso at the far tip of the North East of Scotland, accounting for almost 20 per cent of the UK rail network. Brief Description

We are looking for a Technical Clerk to provide an efficient and effective general administrative, technical and analytical service to the lead manager and their team.

This is a 6 Month Secondment / Fixed Term position with potential to be extended.

About the role (External)

As a Technical Clerk working within our Regional Asset Management team for Drainage & Lineside you will support the team with a variety of data management and administrative tasks. Working with colleagues from across Network Rail, you will be responsible for producing and updating datasets relating to the management of our Drainage & Lineside assets, which include drainage systems, boundary fencing, lineside vegetation, and access points. You will carry out analysis on this data and present the results to other team members and colleagues to support decision making. This might include prioritising sites for renewal, tracking recent incidents or following up on requests from our lineside neighbours.

Here are some of the duties your role will include: -

\xc2\xb7 Gathering, entering and updating data and records related to the management of railway assets

o For example: maintaining a tracker of work items, updating records as you receive progress updates from project teams and raising queries with the project teams where there are discrepancies.

\xc2\xb7 Integration and verification of data, cross-checking between multiple sources and platforms.

o Checking renewal requests submitted by maintenance teams to ensure all required information is present and identifying overlaps with existing requests.

\xc2\xb7 Analysing and presenting data to support recommendations and assisting in the preparation of outputs.

o Managing and updating a record of recent incidents, including assigning incidents to the correct category and presenting data on incident categories, frequency and trends.

\xc2\xb7 Collaborating with other team members and other teams throughout Network Rail.

o Working with maintenance teams to gather additional information relating to recent incidents and follow up actions required.

o Maintaining a log of service requests raised by third parties including lineside neighbours, assigning these to the correct team members and providing feedback to Network Rail\'s Community Relations team to allow them to update the person who raised the request.

\xc2\xb7 Providing technical and administrative support to the team including taking minutes for meetings and following up on actions.

\xc2\xb7 Reviewing and formatting publications and other documents for release within Network Rail.

\xc2\xb7 Locating and collating data, records, and other information as required.

What you will bring to the role: -

\xc2\xb7 Good analytical skills

\xc2\xb7 Good communication and organisation skills including attention to detail

\xc2\xb7 Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel)

\xc2\xb7 Previous experience in data entry and analysis

\xc2\xb7 Experience working with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools

\xc2\xb7 Ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines while maintaining a high standard of output

In addition to the above it would be great if you have the following: -

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of the operational railway environment

\xc2\xb7 Previous experience working with Network Rail IT systems (such as FDM and CCIL)

Grade: Band 6

Salary: \xc2\xa322,000 to \xc2\xa325,000
