Job Description

Based in our Central Support Office in Newcastle (Newcastle Business Park), as a Technical Designer, you will work alongside and support the Modular CAD Technician producing detailed, accurate building plans, technical drawings, and design documentation for modular projects using AutoCAD. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will translate design concepts into precise, production-ready drawings.

You should have:

Essential



4 or 5 GCSEs at grade 9 to 4 (A to C) including English and Mathematics

Desirable



Exposure to modular projects is advantageous.

About the Role!



Drafting & Design



Develop, revise, and maintain accurate 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings for projects. Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure designs are current, aligned, and meet project requirements. Adapt conceptual designs into practical, efficient, and cost-effective solutions tailored to specific project needs.

AutoCAD 2D



Design and develop modular and AV toolkits. Update and manage drawing blocks based on the latest specifications and requirements. Apply fire safety knowledge to design layouts. Produce detailed schedules and materials lists from finalised drawings.

AutoCAD 3D



Design and develop 3D toolkits that reflect design intent and material allocations. Create conceptual 3D buildings aligned with design requirements. Ensure consistency between 2D and 3D toolkits to streamline processes and reduce rendering times.

Fusion 360



Render building concepts for inclusion in customer site packs.

Project Support



Provide Technical Design support to Sales and Operations to ensure project delivery meets specifications, timelines, and contractual obligations. Develop and refine designs based on both product capabilities and client expectations. Liaise directly with clients and suppliers to aid in design finalisation and project approval.

Quality Assurance



Review drawings and documentation for compliance with industry and company standards. Accurately document bespoke changes in building designs in accordance with company procedures, to safeguard company product. Adhere strictly to design and manufacturing protocols to ensure all outputs are fit for purpose. Verify dimensional accuracy and consistency between drawings, specifications, and final designs.

Innovation & Creativity



Identify and evaluate new products and solutions that meet client and business needs. Combine technical expertise with creative thinking to introduce innovative product ideas and design perspectives.

Communication



Maintain collaborative effective verbal communication, so that all thoughts and project ideas are accurately received. Maintain good written communication, understanding the requirement and use of an appropriate tone.
