About the role
Marshdale Construction has an exciting opportunity for a hands-on
Technical Installation Assistant
to support the delivery of CCTV, digital IP technology, digital advertising/signage systems, and wider technology solutions across the UK and overseas. You'll work alongside senior engineers and project teams to assist with installation, commissioning support, maintenance, and technical documentation--growing your skills with structured training and real project experience.
Overseas travel is a core part of this role. We anticipate trips of up to
one week at a time
. When there is no requirement for overseas work, you'll work on projects throughout the UK. All
overseas travel and accommodation
are arranged and paid for by the company.
What you'll do
Assist with the
installation, set-up and commissioning support
of CCTV and security systems (analogue and IP), digital signage/advertising screens, media players and general IT/AV solutions.
Support
structured cabling
works (Cat6/6A, fibre, containment) and basic network device configuration under supervision.
Carry out routine
maintenance, fault calls and audits
, escalating issues appropriately.
Read and work from
proposal documents, schematics and drawings
.
Complete
accurate documentation
: test sheets, commissioning records, red-line drawings, O&M inputs and asset registers.
Interface with
ICT networks, life-safety and other third-party systems
, coordinating with sub-contractors and site teams.
Communicate professionally with clients, protecting Marshdale's reputation on every site.
Always uphold
safe systems of work
and deliver high-quality workmanship.
About you
Self-starter
who can work independently and as part of a small team.
Technology-minded
with practical experience in IT/AV/CCTV or similar technical solutions.
Basic electrical knowledge
and
security systems installation
experience are ideal.
Comfortable with
frequent travel
(UK and overseas) and variable working hours (day/twilight/night as required).
Clean UK driving licence
and
valid passport
(able to travel internationally and obtain visas).
Able to
pass background checks
(e.g., DBS or international equivalent) in line with client/site requirements.
Desirable (nice to have):
ECS card (or willingness to obtain with our support).
Experience with
Uniview
and other mainstream CCTV brands/VMS.
Basic IP networking skills (VLANs, PoE, NVRs, switches, Wi-Fi, addressing).
IPAF/PASMA/CSCS or equivalent site qualifications.
