- We are looking for a Technical Officer to provide maternity cover in our Technical team at our Wrexham Bakery (LL13 9UZ) for a 12 month fixed term contract, starting from 3rd November 2025 to 30th October 2026.
The hours of work for this role are Monday to Friday 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs.

What would you be doing?

As a Technical Officer you will be directly contributing to this vision through your core tasks and responsibilities these will include, but are not limited to:
To support the creation, review and maintenance of appropriate cleaning and hygiene cards and schedules.
To audit compliance against cleaning and hygiene schedules.
To maintain the current effective food safety plan and update and amend as required.
Hold HACCP team reviews and ensure CCP compliance through training and auditing. Update associated HACCP documentation and systems.
To conduct various types of food safety validations under the guidance of the Technical Manager.
To assist with shelf life validation for all products and processes.
To carry out ad hoc food safety project work as required - micro based, CCP based, allergen based.
Carry out thorough customer and supplier complaints or manage technical enquiries.
Maintenance of Pest control systems.
Quality assurance (improving standards of quality, consistency and food safety).
Maintenance of compliance of equipment to calibration schedule.
Monitor, trend and produce data.
Implementation and monitoring of microbiological testing programme.
Liaise, develop and maintain good working relationships with Technical representatives from official bodies, i.e. Environmental Health, Trading Standards.
Shelf life reviews.
Allergen control.
Issuing the internal audit packs & completing internal audits.
Maintaining the non-conformance log and driving corrective actions with root cause analysis.

What skills and qualifications would you need?
To be a successful Technical Officer you will need to demonstrate the following skills, qualifications and attributes:
Essential
Internal Audit training
HACCP Level 2
Food Safety Level 2
Level 2 qualifications (to include English and Maths)
Demonstrable experience within a Food Manufacturing or Pharmaceutical industry Quality Assurance / Technical role
Desirable
Food safety Level 3
HACCP Level 3
Experience of audits in food industry
Level 3 qualified in a relevant subject
Train the Trainer / delivery of training
