Technical Product Owner

Cambridge, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Summary

===========================

Join us at GE Vernova Grid Software as we lead the digital transformation of energy infrastructure. As the world transitions to renewables, the electric grid must evolve rapidly. Our software plays a vital role in this shift--enabling utilities to design, model, and maintain critical electricity, gas, and telecom networks.

We are hiring a Principal Technical Product Manager to drive the evolution of our data platform and services layer, including enhanced PostgreSQL-based databases and foundational data products that power the GridOS ecosystem. These systems serve as the system of record for utility networks and are consumed by internal GE application teams building modern web and mobile applications.

In addition to advancing new capabilities, a key responsibility of this role is to ensure a smooth and thoughtful migration path for our established customers. You will help bridge legacy systems and modern architectures--supporting adoption of the new platform while minimizing disruption to existing operations.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in platform or infrastructure product management, data-centric or API-first product development, and a strong understanding of developer and operator needs. There is little to no user interface--your customers are developers and system engineers, and your focus is on reliability, scalability, and the internal usability of core data capabilities

Partner with technical leads and architects to evolve our PostgreSQL-based geospatial data systems, including schema management, security, performance, high availability, and integrations. Translate utility network domain needs into scalable data platform features, with a strong emphasis on APIs, metadata, system observability, and data consistency. Engage directly with consuming teams to understand their needs, validate solutions, and prioritise the backlog for high value internal features. Work closely with multiple Agile development teams to deliver consistent, high-quality capabilities across multiple environments (dev/test/prod). Define product success using metrics relevant to

. Stay informed on industry trends in cloud-native data platforms, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps as they relate to internal product capabilities.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to both engineering teams and leadership stakeholders. Ability to drive clarity in ambiguity, aligning technical constraints with product outcomes. A mindset oriented around

platform thinking

, reusability, and internal customer empathy.
