Technical Production Manager
to lead and oversee all technical and production operations across its vibrant venues and events programme, ranging from live music and touring shows to weddings and conferences.

The Cheltenham Trust is an independent charity that manages some of Cheltenham's most iconic cultural, leisure, and heritage venues, including the Cheltenham Town Hall, Pittville Pump Room, The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum, and Leisure at Cheltenham. We deliver a diverse programme of live performances, festivals, exhibitions, community events, and private hires, enriching the lives of residents and visitors alike.
The Role
As
Technical Production Manager
, you will be responsible for managing the technical delivery of all live events, productions, and venue operations. This is a hands-on leadership role, managing a small technical team and working closely with visiting companies, artists, promoters, and internal teams to ensure outstanding technical standards across our portfolio. Key Responsibilities:
Lead all technical and production activities across The Cheltenham Trust's venues and events.
Manage and coordinate technical staff and freelance crew.
Oversee lighting, sound, staging, and AV for performances, corporate hires, and events.
Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, licensing, and industry best practices.
Plan and deliver technical requirements for a varied programme of events, from large-scale concerts to community workshops.
Maintain and develop technical equipment and infrastructure.
Provide excellent customer service to visiting productions and clients.
About You
We're looking for a proactive and adaptable professional with:
Proven experience managing technical operations within the arts, live entertainment, events, or cultural sectors.
Strong working knowledge of lighting, sound, AV, rigging, and stagecraft.
A collaborative leadership style and experience managing teams.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
Experience managing budgets and income streams, in line with internal financial controls.
A commitment to safety, quality, and accessibility.
A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends.
What We Offer
Salary of
30,000 - 35,000
per annum.
40 hours, working 5 days out of 7 per week
. Annualised hours allow flexibility based on the requirements of the events schedule. We strive to look after our team, and our rotas are developed with this in mind but due to the nature of the events industry, the role requires that you regularly work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
22 days annual leave, plus bank holidays
. For each year you are employed by The Cheltenham Trust, you will earn 1 additional day's annual leave each year, capped to a maximum of 5 additional days.

Our Requirements
GCSEs (5 A-Cs or equivalent, including Math and English).
Relevant professional qualification or studying towards one.
First Aid qualification desired.
Training or certification in health and safety legislation is desired.
Genie / cherry picker licence is desired.
Experience of working within and line managing a technical department of a venue or production company, or relevant experience gained within a comparable role is desired.
Good level of IT skills - MS Office and event management software.
Demonstrates a customer-centric, responsive and collaborative approach, effectively managing relationships with stakeholders such as hirers, touring productions and staff across the organisation.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with data protection legislation.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform various physical tasks. This role will also include elements of working at height and with ladders.
You may need use of a car for work purposes on occasion.
