Production Technician - Ideal for Hands-On Tinkerers / Crafters / Practical Problem-Solvers
Paignton, Devon | Full-time 8am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday or Part-time 9:30am - 2:30pm Monday to Friday | National Minimum Wage
Are you the sort of person who takes things apart just to see how they work -- and (usually) puts them back together better than before?
Do you enjoy practical, hands-on work where every day might bring something a little bit different?
Would you thrive in a role that values curiosity, problem-solving, and a bit of DIY spirit?
If so, we might just have the perfect job for you.
What You'll Be Doing
At Flexiguide, we manufacture bespoke components used in high-spec telecoms, aerospace, and defence applications. That means every item we make is slightly different - and we need people who can think on their feet and enjoy that variety.
You'll be:
Assembling and finishing
custom components - often from detailed (but very achievable!) part drawings or instructions
and using other tools or processes to finish items to high standards
Interpreting part numbers and drawings
to understand how something goes together - and making decisions based on that
Setting up test equipment
- measuring product performance
Helping to evolve processes
- spotting where something could be done better or quicker next time
Carefully packing and labelling
goods for shipping to customers around the globe.
This isn't just button-pressing on a production line. If you enjoy practical problem-solving, switching between tasks throughout the day / week, thinking "how best to do this?", and tinkering to make things work - you'll fit right in.
Who We're Looking For
We don't mind if you haven't worked in manufacturing before - we'll train you - but we do look for people who:
Are
dextrous
and able to
lift
and move stock and components using sack trucks etc
Enjoy
working with their hands
- whether it's model-making, bike repairs, electronics, mechanics, crafts, etc.
Are
curious
and comfortable figuring out how to do something based on instructions or past experience
Are
happy with variety and change
, rather than doing the exact same thing all day, every day
Who will
muck in
to get the less exciting / repetitive tasks done too
Have
great attention to detail
and care about doing a good job
Can work
well independently
, but also ask for help when needed
Are reliable and ready to
work full-time
(8am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday) or
part time
(9:30am-2:30pm, Monday to Friday)
Bonus points if you've done any soldering, mechanical repairs, or similar hobbies - but full training is provided.
What You'll Get
Full training
and mentoring from experienced team members
A chance to develop valuable skills in
precision manufacturing
The satisfaction of making things that really matter (our components go into everything from satellites to radar!)
A
friendly and supportive team
environment
Free parking, regular breaks, and a clean, quiet working space
This is a great role for someone who wants to be valued for their practical brain and hands-on skills. You don't need fancy qualifications - just the right attitude.
If your shed / workshop / craft room is your happy place, you might just be our next production technician.
Apply now with your CV and a short note about what kind of things you like making or tinkering with.
