Application question(s):
How many years of experience do you have in software or technical project management?
Have you previously worked on Innovate UK, SMART Scotland, or other grant-funded R&D programmes?
Briefly describe one project where you coordinated remote developers; what tools and cadence did you use?
Are you comfortable working part-time (approx. 20 hours/week) on PAYE?
What are your salary expectations within the stated band?
You're leading a distributed team using Next.js (frontend), Node.js & Python (backend), and PostgreSQL (pgvector).
Describe, step by step, how you would:
manage version control using GitHub (branching + review workflow),
maintain deployment stability via CI/CD (GitHub Actions / AWS / Vercel), and
ensure every release is audit-ready for Innovate UK reporting.
(We're looking for specific tools, not theory; name the exact workflow you'd set up.)
A developer pushes an update that breaks the build in production.
You have:
one engineer in India (backend),
one in New York (frontend),
and a compliance report due in 24 hours.
What do you do in the next 60 minutes?
(Outline your incident-response process, tooling, and how you'd communicate while protecting the grant timeline.)
List the project-management and DevOps tools you have personally configured (e.g. Jira, Trello, Asana, GitHub Projects, Jenkins, AWS, Docker, Vercel). Indicate whether you set them up yourself or used them as part of a team.
Our engineers use Next.js, Node/NestJS, and PostgreSQL with AWS S3 and Auth0 integration.
Explain how you would review and approve a merge request that modifies both backend and frontend API endpoints.
What specific items would you check before approving the PR, and how would you enforce consistency across the repos?
