We are seeking an experienced BMS Technical Project Manager to lead the end-to-end design, delivery, and commissioning of Building Management Systems (BMS/BEMS) projects across commercial, industrial, and critical infrastructure sectors in the UK.
This role combines strong technical expertise in building controls with proven project management skills. You will act as the primary technical authority on projects, ensuring systems meet client requirements, industry standards (e.g., CIBSE, BSRIA guidelines), and UK regulations including Building Regulations Part L, health & safety (CDM 2015), and energy performance targets.
Candidates without BMS experience will be considered, however they must have other automation experience /HVAC application knowledge or have project management experience within the construction industry . Training of BMS can be provided to candidates willing to dedicate learning new skills.
Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive project plans utilising tools such as Microsoft Project, Visio, , and SharePoint to track progress and resource allocation.
Coordinate requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables
Manage project schedules through effective project scheduling techniques, ensuring milestones are met while balancing scope, time, and budget constraints.
Monitor project risks and issues proactively; develop mitigation strategies including contingency measures.
Prepare detailed documentation including commissioning reports, handover sheets and operational and maintenance manuals
Drive continuous improvement by applying best practices in project management methodologies.
Experience
Experience in BMS/controls industry, HVAC application or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years in a project management or lead engineering role delivering projects in the UK.
Proven track record of managing multiple projects valued from 50k to 2m+.
Ideally experience of BMS architecture, field controllers, networks (BACnet, Modbus, LON, KNX), and head-end software.
Strong understanding of HVAC plant, controls strategies, and energy management.
Formal project management qualification.
Excellent commercial awareness including budgeting, procurement, variations, and final account agreement.
Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites nationwide (occasional overnight stays).
Right to work in the UK.
Excellent leadership qualities with a focus on team motivation, negotiation skills, organizational skills, time management proficiency, and strong communication skills.
