Job Summary The Technical Proposal Engineer will play a critical role in the sales process by applying technical subject matter expertise to support Campbell Scientific\xe2\x80\x99s global sales team in preparing proposals specifically for aviation weather systems. In this role, you will review client requirements, design competitive, compliant solutions, and help prepare proposal documents as part of a proposal response team. You will also apply technical subject matter expertise to proposal content, sales tools, and technical marketing collateral. You may represent Campbell Scientific at events, such as trade shows and conferences, and together with business development managers influence market strategy by advocating for the needs of our clients and sales team within the company. Essential Functions

  • Create and maintain a strong culture in accordance with Campbell Scientific\xe2\x80\x99s core ARCTIC values -- Accountability, Respect, Client-Centric, Teamwork, Innovation, Continuous Improvement
  • Design compliant solutions comprising of both hardware and software components within the framework of our current aviation weather and surface observation systems system offering and product roadmap.
  • Apply designed concepts to proposal response efforts with guidance from the Business Development team lead, the Market Development Manager, and the Product Managers.
  • Support the Bid Manager in submitting the highest quality of proposal documents in a timely manner.
  • Work with the global sales team to design fit-for-purpose solutions and proposals for clients.
  • Develop sales tools, technical marketing collateral, and proposal content as assigned by the Market Development Manager, in coordination with the Business Development Manager and Bid Manager.
  • Influence annual revenue and year-on-year revenue growth in the aviation weather market and the surface observation system market through winning bids.
  • Establish and achieve goals toward the number of contributed proposals.
Required Technical and Functional Skills
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of productivity software.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with local and remote team members using strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage a challenging workload, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Demonstrated technical writing expertise through references of previously submitted white papers or other highly technical solicitation.
  • Understanding of common environmental sensing techniques, monitoring sensors, and systems.
  • Solid understanding of meteorological principles supporting measurement and instrument operation.
  • Familiarity with software platforms, software solutions, and common software offerings including decision support software in the aviation weather industry.
  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
  • Experience creating quotations/financial proposals from pricing tools.
  • Committed to the highest standards of excellence and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Atmospheric Science, Engineering, Software/IT, GIS or similar.
  • Experience and/or a deep understanding of operating and maintaining measurement equipment in the aviation weather industry.
  • Experience using Campbell Scientific products.
  • Experience in the Private Weather Industry.
Required Education and Relevant Experience
  • Education: BS degree in Science, Engineering, Software/IT, or GIS fields.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in Technical Proposal Response, Application Management, Customer Support, Sales, or in a user role in the aviation weather industry.
  • Skills: Demonstrated competency in (1) technical writing, (2) understanding client technical challenges, (3) application of environmental monitoring hardware, and (4) software design and solutions including decision support software.
