Technical Sales Consultant

Job outline
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the main objective of the role will be to drive continued growth in specifications and sales of mechanical ventilation equipment. Following each sales opportunity through to order stage, you will also prepare quotations and handle commercial negotiations at the tender stage.
Product training will be provided, via both in-house and via manufacturer training, but the ideal candidate will already have a good awareness of building services concepts, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The role would be ideally suited to someone with previous experience in a a sales role in a technical or construction related industry.
The role will be a mix of office working and customer visits. Travel to customer offices and sites will be an integral part of the job. The majority of such travel will be within Northern Ireland, but regular travel to ROI will be involved, with occasional trips to GB and mainland Europe. Fairhaven supports hybrid working where possible.
It is envisaged that for the right candidate, the role will develop into a leadership role as the company grows.
Duties & responsibilities

Identifying new and developing existing sales channels
Consultant, contractors & client visits to promote awareness of our products
Delivering CPD presentations
Collaborating with our technical team to develop system selections & designs
Preparation of proposal documents, specifications and quotations
Nurturing new leads and following up on existing opportunities
Negotiating and securing sales orders
Liasing with our operations team to ensure smooth order fulfilment
Supplier/manufacturer liason on commercial queries
Assisting with marketing activities such as exhibitions, writing case studies, website marketing etc
Essential Criteria
E1. 3rd level educated in a business or marketing related subject (equivalent experience may be considered)
E2. Experience in a B2B sales role
E3. Excellent verbal & written communication skills
E4. Sound commercial acumen, including strong negotiating skills
E5. Excellent IT skills
E6. Ability to understand architectural drawings
E7. Right to work in the UK
E8. Willingness to work away from home occasionally
E9. Valid Driving Licence (max 3 penalty points)
Desirable
D1. Understanding of HVAC systems & related building regulations
D2. Experience in a similar sales role
D3. Experience of the construction industry tendering and procurement process
