SEO Account Manager

28,000 - 40,000 depending on experience

Sierra Six Media is a Drum Recommends digital marketing agency based in Billericay, Essex, delivering AI-first SEO strategies for clients across sectors including ecommerce, property, security, and hospitality.

We are expanding our SEO team and looking for two technically focused Technical SEO Executives. You will be responsible for the technical performance of our clients websites, carrying out audits, diagnosing issues, and driving improvements that support long term organic growth.

This role has limited client communication. You will work primarily with SEO Account Managers, who handle client comms, while you focus on technical analysis, implementation support, and documentation.

You will need at least two years of hands-on technical SEO experience, including regular use of tools such as Screaming Frog, SEMrush, GA4, and Google Search Console. Experience with platforms such as WordPress and Shopify is highly desirable.

What You'll Do

Work across a portfolio of 8 to 12 client websites at any one time, delivering technical improvements that support long-term organic growth Improve page speed and Core Web Vitals on the Sierra Six Media website, working closely with our development team to implement performance enhancements Carry out in depth technical SEO audits across a range of CMSs and site types incluing Wordpress, Shopify and Squarespace. Monitor site health, crawlability, indexation, and visibility using Screaming Frog, SEMrush, GA4, and GSC Review site architecture, internal linking, and URL structures, recommending improvements that support rankings and user experience Review existing content performance from a technical perspective, identifying issues such as cannibalisation, thin content, duplication, and weak internal linking Provide clear recommendations for content consolidation, pruning, or improvement based on data and site structure Assess content templates, metadata setups, and on-page elements to ensure content can be crawled, indexed, and ranked effectively Own technical on-page optimisation at scale, including metadata, headings, and internal linking frameworks Analyse Core Web Vitals and site speed, then create clear recommendations to improve performance Create, manage, and quality check XML sitemaps, robots.txt rules, and canonical setups Support implementation of redirects, hreflang, and structured data, and verify changes once deployed Investigate ranking or traffic drops, diagnose root causes, and propose practical, prioritised fixes Prepare concise technical notes for Account Managers to share with clients Work closely with developers using clear briefs and ticketing to ensure changes are delivered correctly Document your work in an organised, repeatable way so that progress can be tracked and reported Stay up to date with algorithm updates and technical SEO developments, feeding insights into our processes

What We're Looking For

Minimum two years of experience in a dedicated technical SEO role, ideally agency side Proven experience using Screaming Frog, SEMrush and any other tools such as Sitebulb, for audits and ongoing monitoring Strong working knowledge of GA4 and Google Search Console Good understanding of common CMS platforms such as WordPress and Shopify Confident in diagnosing and resolving issues related to crawlability, indexation, site speed, JavaScript rendering, and structured data Ability to translate technical findings into clear, prioritised actions for non-technical stakeholders Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy Organised and methodical, comfortable managing multiple projects at once Curious, proactive attitude, with a genuine interest in testing, learning, and improving technical performance
You would have a strong advantage with experience in the following tools and areas

Log file analysis for understanding crawl behaviour Using Looker Studio or similar for technical and performance reporting Working with development teams and ticketing systems to manage technical roadmaps

The Setup

You will join a growing SEO department supported by an SEO Account Manager, freelance content writers, and a development team, as well as project management and delivery tools including HubSpot, Trello, and Basecamp.

Technical SEO Executives typically spend the majority of their time on audits, troubleshooting, implementation support, and ongoing technical maintenance, with additional time dedicated to experimentation, documentation, and process improvement. Flexible working between the Billericay office and home is available.
