The Role

A service coordinator ( known internally at Carnival UK as Technical Controller) is an exciting and varied role, working alongside our Ship Managers, Superintendents and Ship\'s onboard maintenance managers you will liaise with a network of international service providers as part of a team to coordinate and support the asset management of the fleet of 9 ships. This is under the P&O and Cunard world class brands in a 24/7, 365 day a year maritime environment.

You will be responsible for organizing and managing fixed fee contracts, planned maintenance and urgent reactive unplanned repairs in all areas of Deck and Technical. Involving Electrical, Engineering, Entertainment, Environmental, Maritime Standards, Projects, Refits, Security and Ventilation Maintenance to ensure the safety, statutory compliance and sustainability of the ships. In addition it will include management of logistics support for refits at dry dock and crisis management as part of the Carnival UK emergency response team.

For at least two days a week, you\'ll be based out of our fantastic offices in the heart of Southampton, less than two hours from central London. In our hybrid working environment, you can also expect to balance this with time spent working remotely every week.

To be considered as a Technical Controller you will also need:

  • Act as the main point of contact for all servicing.
  • Liaise with service providers to establish, organise and maintain all service visits, including statutory and planned and unplanned maintenance driven work in line with the Asset Management plan.
  • Responsible for end to end purchasing process for services from initial requirement as per defined scope of works through to final supplier invoice payment resolution.
  • To ensure the required level of support to enable the vessel to deliver their areas of accountability to plan.
  • Liaise with contractors during commercial tender process to completion of works to a satisfactory standard.
  • Direct and co-ordinate maintenance activities on board, ensuring successful completion.
  • Instigate and conduct supplier meetings where appropriate to support operational objectives.
  • Create a weekly service planner for forward planning and ensure timely requests are made via Technical Admin support.
  • Liaise with ships staff to ensure the timely delivery of required urgent parts for all planned/unplanned service visits.
  • Assist Superintendents with logistical and service intervention for crisis management.
  • Timely delivery to Office Administration request for OCS Cabins, Day passes, vehicle quayside passes and travel via the ARC Operational Schedule (OS) system, with forward planning as the main goal.
  • Act as senior and as first point of contact with Supply Management with reference to input of Technical knowledge and fixed fee contract management.
  • Continuous review for improvement and Implementation of strategic asset management plans within areas of responsibility. Financial
  • Identify opportunities for cost efficiency and savings including leveraging scale and being involved in negotiation and commercial tendering and contract agreements and being Technical representative to ensure it meets operational requirements and management efficiency.
  • Ensure high level of attention to detail and budget management and assist with business reporting with effective cost control for processing of Purchase Orders to meet the financial plan forecast for in service and refits in the region of \xc2\xa325m p.a. and team spend of +\xc2\xa3100m p.a. Projects & Refits
  • Plan, attend, manage and coordinate logistics operations including overseeing multiple contractor and ship yard logistics teams to deliver logistical needs for refits in dry docks and wet docks for responsible ships.
  • Assist with additional support and placing of Purchase Orders for refits.
  • Attend ships that you are responsible for on a regular basis in home port of Southampton and possibly travel onboard each vessel once per year to work directly with onboard ship\'s staff to review, process and oversee ongoing maintenance.
  • Occasionally attend and travel to assist as necessary during planned projects, dry docks and wet docks potentially up to 3 weeks. Also occasionally required to travel at short notice for up to 3 - 4 days as required.
  • Available as part of Carnival UK emergency response team dealing with crisis management in Technical operations function as part of a rotating 24/7, 365 days a year on call roster providing support as needed for level 1 & 2 activations and being able to attend in the event of urgent level 3 & 4 activations.
  • Health, Environment, Safety, Security (HESS) RA diploma in Ship Management ( or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
