Contract:

Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday, typically 8am-5pm)

We are looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative

Technical Services and Data Manager

to join our Technical team at MM Flowers. This is a leadership role responsible for managing the systems, specifications, and compliance documentation that ensure our products consistently meet legal and customer standards.

The successful candidate will lead a team of Specification Technologists, Raw Material Technologists, and Compliance Coordinators to maintain product and supplier integrity, ensure audit readiness, and support seamless technical operations across multiple customer platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

Lead and support a team responsible for specifications, raw materials, and compliance. Coach and develop team members through effective delegation, training, and performance reviews. Organise team workload to deliver consistent technical service to internal and external stakeholders.

Specification Management

Oversee the creation and maintenance of raw material and finished product specifications. Ensure specification data is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with customer and legal standards. Act as the escalation point for specification queries, including allergens, labelling, and packaging.

Compliance & Documentation

Ensure all supplier documentation and product records are up to date and audit ready. Manage supplier approval processes, including food safety, ethical trade, and traceability requirements. Own internal technical trackers to ensure compliance and due diligence requirements are met.

Data Systems & Accuracy

Maintain technical data platforms and documentation systems to ensure traceability and version control. Provide data reports and technical summaries to support internal teams and customer reviews. Act as system administrator or primary contact for specification and compliance platforms.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Procurement, Commercial, NPD, and Quality teams to support new product development and onboarding. Support site audit preparation and customer visits by ensuring accurate technical data and documentation are available. Review customer complaints data, identify trends and root causes, and provide actionable feedback.

Continuous Improvement

Lead initiatives to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility of technical documentation. Recommend enhancements to processes and tools that support technical compliance and data management. Stay up to date with evolving customer requirements and technical expectations.

What We're Looking For

Experience in a technical or compliance role within food, produce, or FMCG manufacturing Strong knowledge of customer specification systems (e.g. Tesco, M&S, Aldi) and legal packaging/labelling requirements A proven track record managing teams, workflows, and data in a technical environment Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and proactive mindset

Desirable Experience

Familiarity with platforms like Foods Connected, Greenlight, or other spec/compliance software Understanding of BRCGS, HACCP, ethical trading, and packaging compliance Experience in documentation preparation for audits and customer visits
