Reports to: Technical Services Manager

Hours: Full Time 1.0 FTE

Purpose: To maintain and repair campus technical systems, studios, and teaching spaces,

ensuring equipment is safe, functional, and ready for daily academic and event use. The

Technician provides mid-level technical support, carries out routine maintenance, and

contributes to minor facilities improvements.


Key Responsibilities

Respond to and resolve helpdesk requests and technical faults. Undertake planned maintenance of studio, performance, and classroom equipment

(including PAT testing).

Assist in remedial facilities tasks within skillset (painting, furniture fixes, hardware

replacement).

Support in the delivery of inductions and refresher training to staff and students on

correct use of studios, equipment, and safety procedures.

Support the Technical Services Manager and Technical Services Senior Technician

with event logistics, project planning, and contractor liaison.

Prepare and operate equipment for classes, assessments, and performances. Support studio operations, ensuring correct setup of recording and live systems. Maintain accurate inventories and assist with purchase orders for replacement parts

and consumables.

Contribute to H&S compliance by completing checks, maintaining records, and

reporting hazards.

Provide technical advice to staff and students on safe, correct equipment use. Mentor Operatives as they develop technical skills. Support campus events and out-of-hours activities as required. Ensure building is secure at all times; consistently completing a thorough building

open and/or building close procedure.
Essential Skills & Attributes

Strong practical understanding of studio, live-sound, or AV systems. Proven ability to diagnose and repair common equipment faults. Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of independent working. Competent with admin tools (Helpdesk, Google Workspace). Excellent organisation and communication skills.
Desirable

Experience with SSL, Audient, or comparable consoles. Formal PAT-testing qualification. First Aid and Fire Marshal trained.
Full UK Driving License
