Job Summary
The purpose of this role is to support the Technical Manager and ensuring Food Safety, Quality, Legality and Compliance, ensuring brand and customer Specifications are always maintained.
Being responsible for maintaining compliance with customer standards and ensuring the site systems and procedures are reflecting the requirements to drive continuous improvement. You will work closely with other departments to continuously and proactively improve all areas of the business to ensure standards and compliance are maintained.
You will also support our NPD processes and translate kitchen development into factory ready processes.
Technical Governance
Support internal and external audits through accurate documentation, traceability, and compliance records.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across quality, safety, and operational performance.
Ensure documentation reflects the stringent allergen-free controls of the site.
Update and maintain technical documentation and procedures, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
Complete internal audits as required.
Management of the supplier and raw material approval processes in conjunction with TM, liaising with vendors and internal teams, including the management of export requirements.
Assist in managing technical systems to ensure compliance with BRCGS standards and food safety regulations.
Support complaint investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
Specification Writing & Compliance
Create, update, and maintain product specifications across retail, branded, and private-label customers.
Manage artwork checks and ensure label information is compliant, accurate, and up to date.
Ensure all specifications meet customer requirements, legal standards, nutritional accuracy, and internal allergen controls.
Produce and maintain ingredient declarations, QUIDs, HACCP-related product data, and allergen matrices.
Liaise with suppliers to obtain and validate raw material specifications.
NPD & Process Support
Work closely with the NPD team to translate kitchen development into factory-ready processes.
Document and standardise manufacturing instructions, critical control points, and technical procedures.
Support factory trials, capturing data, times, yields, temperatures, and processing adjustments.
Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth scale-up from concept to full production.
Troubleshoot technical or process issues and help identify efficiency improvements.
Qualifications & Experience:
Preferable
Degree or equivalent
qualification in Food Science, Quality Management, or a related field.
Preferable experience working in a
technical or quality role
within the food industry.
Demonstrable experience in specification writing
Experience working with or within and NPD process
Food safety L3 / HACCP L3 / Internal Auditing
certifications preferred
Understanding of
BRCGS standards
and food safety systems.
