About The role
The Technical Trainer at The Sheffield College plays a crucial role in supporting student learning by ensuring that the learning environment is safe, well-prepared, and equipped for educational activities. This role involves assisting in the design and delivery of practical learning sessions, providing demonstrations, and offering guidance to both students and staff. The Technical Trainer promotes health and safety in compliance with the College's policies and contributes to the overall success of the department by ensuring effective use of equipment and maintaining a high standard of technical support.
Main Responsibilities:
Ensure that workshops, laboratories, and learning spaces are safe, secure, and well-equipped with the necessary tools and materials for educational activities.
Assist in the design, setup, and delivery of practical learning sessions, including demonstrations and hands-on instruction in the subject area or technical areas.
Provide technical guidance and support to students, either one-on-one or in groups, ensuring they can successfully use equipment and apply techniques as part of their learning programme.
Promote and enforce health and safety regulations in line with college policies, ensuring both staff and students operate in a safe environment.
Serve as a point of contact for staff and students, offering in-depth knowledge and technical support in the relevant subject area.
Assist in monitoring budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources, and reporting to senior staff where necessary.
Oversee the day-to-day activities of a small team or work area, allocating tasks and monitoring progress to ensure effective operations.
Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions to technical challenges, contributing to the enhancement of services and learning experiences.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, attending meetings and providing advice on technical matters related to the delivery of learning and support services.

What we can offer you
As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between 27,654- 32,272 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role.
