Purpose of the post



Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do. To develop a personal ability in technical related issues, primarily the preparation of drawings and documents using various computer software packages. Be part of a flexible project team and assist engineering and technical staff on projects. Assist in ensuring that YGC operates on a commercial basis and adapts itself to compete effectively. Be fully committed to meeting the needs of the client. If required, assist the Engineers Representative with their duties on construction projects. Comply with health and safety and environmental legislation requirements Assist with the requirements of the financial management of projects.

Responsibility for functions



Develop and maintain current information relating to:- current best practice in design issues technical standards and developments (including current technology) professional and statutory responsibilities (including e.g. those under the Health and Safety in the Workplace Act 1974, Wildlife and Countryside Act 1982, Habitat Regulations 1994 and appropriate Regulations e.g. CDM Regulations) and their relevant use for the work and duties undertaken. To deputise for the immediate superior in his/her absence Ensure that YGC meets the requirements of the Council. to ensure that all staff timesheets and approvals are completed in accordance with YGC procedures. The post-holder will be expected to be aware of Health and Safety requirements and co-operate with YGC's Health and Safety representative.

Main duties



Develop and maintain a practical and professional relationship with clients. Assist engineering and technical staff to complete projects, which includes shouldering a variety of technical and administrative Design office duties that are commensurate with the post holder's training, experience and competence. Assist with completing Audit, Assessing and Maintenance work on Highway Infrastructures. Regularly report to senior staff and receive instructions from them as required in order to ensure that the work progresses appropriately. Assist with surveying the work on construction sites as required. Operate computer and software systems. To liaise with other services statutory undertakers, other authorities, external organisations and individuals concerning all aspects of the works. Other relevant technical and administrative duties commensurate with the seniority of the post This is an indicative list only. The post-holder will be expected to be part of the process of managing and monitoring performance in accordance with the requirements of the post and undertake any other duties relevant to the nature and scale of the post at the request of the Head of Service/Manager or the Strategic Director. Responsibility for self-development. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council's Health and Safety Policy. Operate within the Council's policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality. Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council's information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation. Commitment to reducing the Council's carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council's Carbon Footprint. Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
