to join our Estates & Facilities team, specialising in mechanical services. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and compliance of our plumbing, heating, and mechanical systems across London sites.
This role involves carrying out both
routine and non-routine works
, including new installations, reactive maintenance, and planned preventative maintenance tasks. You will also be responsible for escorting contractors, adhering strictly to Health & Safety and security procedures, and ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake new works, repairs, and planned maintenance activities on plumbing, heating, and mechanical systems (hot & cold water, refrigeration, gas, ventilation, heat pumps).
Complete reactive work requests, minor installations, and weekly PPM dockets efficiently.
Escort contractors carrying out inspections, testing, and installations.
Maintain tools, records, and compliance with Health & Safety, security, and operational procedures.
Work to deadlines, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality service delivery.
Participate in the department's out-of-hours on-call rota when required.
Qualifications & Training
Minimum
NVQ Level 3
in Plumbing, Refrigeration, or Mechanical Services.
Water Safety Training.
Specialism in a mechanical service (Gas, Refrigeration, Heat Pumps) desirable.
Experience & Skills
Proven experience in installation and maintenance of mechanical, plumbing, ventilation, or gas systems.
Previous experience in an
NHS or healthcare environment
preferred.
Computer literate with good record-keeping skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong interpersonal skills - able to interact effectively at all levels.
Flexible and adaptable to changing demands and locations.
Other Requirements
Own tools & PPE.
Valid UK manual driving licence.
Reliable, with good attendance record.
Willing to work across London sites when required.
