Position and Responsibilities


Working within the Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality Department (SHEQ), you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks designed to monitor and ensure the safety and health of employees and the environment. Duties include: Monitor and ensure compliance with industrial and radiation safety programs at our Smith Ranch Highland and North Butte Operation. Collect, maintain and record radiation survey data, interpret results of readings, maintain exposure information. Assess working conditions pertaining to environmental monitoring, and industrial / radiation safety programs. Participate in audits/inspections and communicate with external regulators. Assist with the delivery and tracking of employee training. Main duties are based out of the Smith Ranch Highland site. The job does require typically one day a week at our North Butte mine site to perform the same duties described above. A company truck is provided for travel to / from the North Butte site. Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience


An associate's degree in a math, science, engineering, or health related field is preferred but not required, may consider training the right candidate. Previous relevant work experience is ideal but not required Excellent communication, math and analytical skills and attention to detail are required. Must be able to work independently as well as with a team. Must have education and/or equivalent experience to meet the qualifications for Radiation Safety Technician found in NRC Reg Guide 8.31 within two years of date of hire. All qualifications can be met while working on the job and are paid by Cameco. Applicants will be considered for a level within the job progression appropriate to their qualifications.



Safety is a top priority at Cameco. Successful candidates for all positions that will involve work at Safety-Sensitive Sites or in Safety-Sensitive Positions must take and pass a Substance Test, which includes marijuana, as a condition of employment. Marijuana remains in a user's system for about 30 days, so applicants who recently used marijuana recreationally should not expect to pass a substance test.
