Job Description

We are now recruiting for casual Technicians (variable hours) to support our core technical team in delivering a wide range of live and digital events, gallery operations, and projects to ensure a consistent high-quality experience for our visitors.

Areas of responsibility and accountability:



Support a variety of technical and AV activities across the museum. Provide on-the-ground technical support for museum events, including talks, music, film screenings, and private hires ensuring minimal disruption to events or visitor experience. Ensure speedy resolution to faults and issues as they occur, communicating effectively to the wider team estimating the time required to resolve. Operate and support AV equipment, including mixing desks, video playback and recording systems, production lighting, microphones, and PA systems. Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate AV and lighting is available to cover events and create multi media displays as required. Assist with technical set-up and breakdown for events, exhibitions, and installations.

Essential Qualifications and Experience



Technically skilled in AV, lighting, sound and event tech with hands-on experience in live event delivery. Extensive experience of working with office IT systems and desktop applications (including Windows, Mac &IOS office 365 applications. Trained in safety procedures relating to electrical equipment Health & Safety awareness (manual handling, working at height, etc.) Calm under pressure, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs. Great communicator, with a proactive and collaborative approach to working with colleagues and external partners. Able to follow instructions, work independently when needed, and represent the museum in a professional manner. Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work evenings, weekends as required

Desirable Qualifications and Experience



Experience operating digital or analogue mixing desks Knowledge of video playback/recording software and hardware Experience in live music, theatre tech, or corporate events IT/networking skills Understanding, Experience or Knowledge of Web Technology and Coding; such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP.
