Responsibilities
Support for Technology Department:
To prepare equipment, resources and teaching areas for practical classes.
To assist in the preparation of resources and materials for Design Technology as required.
To support staff and students through the use of specific machinery eg circular saw, band saw, scroll saw, sanders, pillar drills and laser cutters plus hand held power tools.
To undertake training as required.
To maintain a safe and tidy working environment at all times.
Support for ICT:
To assist in the maintenance and development of the school's ICT resources for safe, effective use by pupils and staff.
To assist with the maintenance, upgrading and repair of a wide range of PCs and peripherals.
To liaise with service providers and contractors in relation to routine matters and fixing simple faults.
To assist with the support and guidance to all pupils and staff in the use of ICT.
To assist with detecting PC, peripheral and application errors and reporting to IT Manager.
To ensure basic safety checks are carried out and follow relevant H&S procedures and raise awareness among staff and other users.
To work to the maintenance schedule as directed and prioritised by the IT Manager.
To check the help desk website and email account to report and assist in prioritising requests.
To assist with auditing of ICT equipment (including software licensing) and keep up to date and help maintain ICT documentation.
To ensure the ICT systems within school are available, as appropriate.
To provide technical support for whole school events.
To assist with school reprographics replacing toners, checking paper supply and taking meter readings.
Requirements
Good standard of general education
Commitment to ongoing personal professional development
Relevant experience of working with IT systems and/or DT workshops or related environments
Have good working ICT knowledge including Microsoft Office
Good interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication
Good literacy skills
Ability to work on own initiative
Unconditional positive regard for students, staff and all visitors to the school
The ability to remain calm and quickly adapt to changes
Organised and motivated with ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
Excellent attendance and punctuality record
Ability to provide an inspirational role model to all pupils
