We have an excellent opportunity available for a Technology Support Apprentice to join our DDaT (Digital, Data and Technology) Team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time, 2 year fixed term contract.
As the Technology Support Apprentice, you will provide support to internal staff in the administration of duties centred around resolving non-complex requests such as application and account access, assist in duties relating to the day to day operation of the councils computer systems and ensure IT assets are accounted for and in working condition before allocation and use.
Apprenticeship
The successful candidate will undertake the Level 3 Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship with LDN.
We're looking for candidates who are confident using Microsoft Office and similar applications, and willing to learn new IT systems. You'll need to be an excellent communicator, self-motivated, and have strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
Act as a single point of contact for phone calls and emails from staff regarding IT issues and queries, including receiving, logging and managing calls from internal staff
Publishing support documentation to assist staff with requests for information, maintaining the Council's IT knowledge base and maintaining the IT intranet pages
Apply technical skillset to assist the delivery of the IMT Service
Ensuring that all IT Assets which are no longer fit for purpose of re-use are securely stored until can be disposed of
Ensuring that Laptops and Smartphones are clean and fit for purpose before being allocated and worked on.
Contribute to project work, supporting the wider team, as and when required
Candidate Requirements:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Basic understanding of computer support
Knowledge of Microsoft Products
Good organisational skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Apprenticeship Requirements:
You must have been a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake this training programme.
If you do not have a Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English, you will be required to work towards achieving these qualifications as part of your apprenticeship.

Whilst this is a fixed term contract appointment, for anyone already employed by Wokingham Borough Council this would be classed as a secondment if successful. Therefore, the usual permission requests for secondments apply and you must speak to your line manager in the first instance before applying.
