IBK are currently supporting a family in S8 who are looking for a flexible, part - time PA for their teenage son who has a complex learning disability.

Who are IBK?

IBK is a community based, not-for-profit social enterprise with over 20 years' experience of providing Direct Payment Support to families, children and adults of all ages with a range of needs. We provide a bespoke matching service, finding the right PA for the right person.

The family are looking for a calm and experienced individual, who can use their initiative to keep their teenage son safe whilst having fun doing the things he loves whether this is in the family home or out in the community. The young man has complex learning difficulties, is predominantly non-verbal, a wheelchair user and can sometimes display challenging behaviours.

Having lots of energy, the young man loves to get out and about in busy environments, whether this is at a shop or cafe, especially if this involves going for food. While at home he loves music and a good dance. He would love the opportunity to make new friends and having the support to build his confidence to live his best life.

The role of the PA will involve:

- Constant support throughout the day or night

- Support with daily medications and attending regular hospital appointments

- Assistance with washing, dressing, feeding and moving around

- Using a variety of equipment such as his wheelchair and hoists

- Support eating and drinking

- Willing to adapt to routines

Joining his team of PA's, the family are looking for someone who:

- Is calm, patient and have an open mind of the approach to the support

- Has a good sense of humour

- Have experience of working with young people who've had complex needs and communication difficulties using PECs

- Willing to learn from the young man, his current PA's and his family

- Be friendly, reliable, and honest; and maintain confidentiality.

- Be respectful in the family home

- Have a genuine desire to positively enhance the young person's life

- Be physically capable of carrying out tasks described.

- Has similar hobbies and interests

The role will involve personal care and manual handling, which training will be provided.

Job Type:

Flexible part time, Permanent

Hours: 12 - 16 hours per week

4.30pm - 8.30pm in the week

Available for weekend support.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 14.03 per hour
