: N11 Sweeper for Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) Workstream
Position Summary
The N11 Sweeper will be an integral part of the Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) workstream team, working on behalf of MJ Quinn on the Openreach network. This role will be covering South Wales Patch areas such as Swansea
This role involves ensuring the efficient and effective installation, maintenance, and repair of fibre optic networks to deliver high-speed internet services directly to residential and commercial premises. The N11 Sweeper will collaborate closely with other team members to ensure compliance with industry standards and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Installation and Maintenance
Conduct thorough site surveys to assess the feasibility and requirements for FTTP installations.
Perform and rectify light issues from CBT into the Openreach fibre network.
Install and configure network equipment, including Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) and routers, CSP.
Ensure proper connection and functioning of fibre optics from the main network to the customer's premises. Including civil avoidance issues and working in the underground network.
Maintain and troubleshoot fibre optic networks to swiftly resolve any service disruptions or technical issues.
Liaise with FTTP engineers to work solutions to no light at CBT and routing issues.
Quality Control and Compliance
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Conduct quality checks to verify the integrity and performance of installed fibre networks.
Keep detailed and accurate records of all installation and maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with Openreach's operational standards and procedures.
Collaboration and Communication
Coordinate with team members, including engineers and project managers, to align activities with project timelines and goals.
Communicate effectively with customers to provide updates and address any concerns regarding FTTP installations.
Technical Expertise
Stay updated with the latest advancements in fibre optic technology and industry best practices.
Utilise specialised tools and equipment for the installation and maintenance of fibre optic networks.
Identify and rectify potential issues in the fibre optic network to ensure optimal performance.
Qualifications and Experience
Education and Certification
Technical education in telecommunications or a related field is preferred.
Certification in fibre optics installation and maintenance, such as the Fibre Optic Association (FOA) certification, is an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 1 year of experience in fibre optic installation and maintenance.
Proven experience with FTTP installations and working knowledge of Openreach's network infrastructure.

Proficiency in the use of fibre optic splicing tools and testing equipment.
Strong understanding of fibre optic network design and installation techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work Environment
Field-based role that requires travel to various installation sites within the assigned area.
Work may be performed in diverse environments, including residential and commercial sites.

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working at heights.
Comfortable working in confined spaces and varying weather conditions.
