To support the Care Manager and staff in the day to day activities to provide the highest standards of support to the people who use our service in line with company and regulatory standards.
DAY-DAY
Innova House has 6 residential homes, you will be allocated where required and answerable to the care managers of our homes.
40 Hour contract, with supernumerary hours and on call 1 week in 6 minimum
What Are The Key Responsibilities?
Assist the manager in ensuring that excellent standards of support are provided to the people who use our service by staff
Support the staff in reviewing and updating all individual support plans regularly
Support the manager in staff supervisions and annual appraisals
Keep up-to-date with any changes to policies, procedures or regulations that affect the service and support the Care Manager in communicating these to the staff team
To support the people who use our service to reach their full potential
Ensure that all the people who use our service have any personal needs or requirements met including personal care, participation with activities, support with daily living tasks
Respond to or refer to the Care Manager any questions or concerns expressed by anyone using the service, visiting the service or in the local community
Take responsibility for personal development and attendance at training both mandatory and service specific
Report any incidents of abuse, mistreatment or non-compliance within the service to the Care Manager or next available management level
Fulfil any duties requested by the management team of the company.
Support the Care Manager and service through attendance at marketing events, e.g. open days, fairs, sports days etc
Activities: What Does The Job Holder Have To Do?
Assist the Care Manager in administrative duties such as rotas; monitor and maintain staff training programmes; updating care plans, risk assessments and policies and procedures; incident reporting; marketing; recruitment
Assist in budgeting, cost control and service user monies.
Provide guidance, supervision and support to staff, monitoring and managing staff performance on a daily basis.
Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff.
Conduct service user reviews.
Plan and manage the rota and ensure appropriate staff support is available.
Work as part of the support cover as required in an emergency to lead a staff team on shift, including providing medication.
Support the people who use our service with any of their personal requirements e.g. attending to personal care, talking to them about the service, listening to their concerns, supporting activities, supporting their movement towards independent living
Support the Management team in ensuring health and safety requirements are met within the service.
Achieve high standards of quality care management and exceed the minimum requirements
Deputise for the Care Manager in their absence and ensure that the values and standards of the home are maintained.
Deliver Internal Training and Group Learning sessions to deliver the Care Certificate and associated Mandatory on the Job Training.
Adhere to an on call rota, supporting all sites out of hours within a 24 hour period. The need to act in place of, in the event that another on call manager is abscent
Work alongside staff and enrichments on shift as well as complete manager hours to fulfil duties required .
Person Specification Essential
QUALIFICATIONS
NVQ3 in health and social care
Reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy
Educated to secondary school level
JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
Computer literate
Understanding of regulatory framework
Understanding the needs of people within the specific specialty of the service
Understanding of basic Health and Safety.
Knowledge and understanding of the acquired brain injury and autistic spectrum condition.
EXPERIENCE
2 plus years of working within a care or supported living role.
Supervisory role experience
Experience of working in a senior support role or managing a large team
within the related discipline of the service.
PERSONAL SKILLS
Is confident and professional when interacting with others including external stakeholders
Is willing to take ownership of problems
Remains calm at all times despite the emotions of others
Supportive of decisions even if do not agree
Can only come up with solutions not problems
Is not decisive when confronted with conflicting priorities.
