Job Description

Overview





We are looking for a Wiring and Mechanical Assembly Technician on a temporary basis to support immediate project requirements.



The role will initially last 4-6 weeks, with the possibility of an extension, depending on project needs.




Key Responsibilities




Assembly & Fabrication:

Build and install complex cable harnesses, wire assemblies, and connectors according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.

Technical Operations:

Perform precision tasks including cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, lacing, and tinning to industry standards.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure all work complies with

IPC-A-610

(acceptability of electronic assemblies) and

IPC/WHMA-A-620

(cable and wire harness fabrication).

Testing & Inspection:

Carry out continuity checks and functional testing using mustimeters and other testing equipment.

Collaboration:

Liaise with production supervisors and engineering teams to resolve build issues and meet production targets.



Requirements




Experience:

Minimum of

2 years of proven experience

in electrical wiring, cable assembly, or harness building within a manufacturing and or maintenance environment.

Certification:

Must hold current and valid

IPC-A-610

and

IPC/WHMA-A-620

certifications.

Electrical Qualification:

A recognized

Level 3 electrical qualification

or an equivalent apprenticeship-based credential.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in reading complex wiring diagrams and build instructions, expertise in various crimping and soldering techniques, and a solid understanding of ESD-safe practices.

Soft Skills:

Exceptional attention to detail, strong manual dexterity, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Some projects at Cambridge Consultants are subject to security restrictions.

This role requires you to obtain a Security Check level security clearance

( https://www.gov.uk/guidance/united-kingdom-security-vetting-applicant ). You must be able to work in the UK without restrictions in accordance with UK National Law and be prepared to successfully undertake an appropriate level of UK National Security Vetting according to UK Government National Security Vetting criteria.

A strong understanding of

and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) to ensure safe handling of chemicals such as fluxes, cleaners, and adhesives.

Experience in maintaining a clean and organized work area using

5S methodologies

or similar lean manufacturing principles to ensure efficiency and safety. *

Continuous Improvement:

Proactive attitude toward identifying potential hazards or process improvements within the work place.
