We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioner to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children, supporting their developmental needs through engaging activities and personalised care.
The Nursery Practitioner will work closely with colleagues to ensure high standards of childcare and education are maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver age-appropriate educational activities that promote learning and development.
Supervise children during play, meals, rest periods, and organised activities, ensuring their safety at all times.
Foster a caring and inclusive environment that encourages children's social, emotional, and physical development.
Maintain accurate records of children's progress and daily routines in compliance with nursery policies.
Support colleagues in managing daily nursery operations, including organising resources and maintaining cleanliness.
Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding children's progress and any concerns.
Uphold health and safety standards within the nursery environment, including adhering to safeguarding policies.
Skills
Proven experience working with children in a childcare or nursery setting.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to liaise confidently with parents, colleagues, and children.
Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childcare regulations.
Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude towards young children.
Organisational skills to plan activities efficiently while managing multiple responsibilities.

Deliver high-quality care and development opportunities in line with the
EYFS
framework.
Plan, prepare, and lead engaging activities tailored to children's individual interests and developmental needs.
Support children's personal, social, and emotional development, promoting independence and confidence.
Observe, assess, and record children's learning using the nursery's chosen system (paper-based or digital).
Contribute to creating an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Safety & Wellbeing
Ensure children's safety at all times, following all safeguarding and child protection policies.
Carry out daily risk assessments and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
Adhere to health & safety, allergy, medication, and behaviour management procedures.
Communication & Teamwork
Build warm, professional relationships with children and families.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's progress, routines, and achievements.
Work collaboratively with the team to create a positive, supportive working environment.
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and contribute to continuous improvement within the setting.
Professional Responsibilities

Work within nursery policies, procedures, and values.
Take part in ongoing professional development and training.
Support new staff, apprentices, and students where required.
Person Specification
Essential
Level 2 or Level 3 Qualification in Early Years / Childcare (or working towards).
Good knowledge of EYFS.
Passion for working with young children.
Ability to work well within a team and show initiative.
Good communication and organisational skills.
A clear DBS check and commitment to safeguarding.
Desirable
Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Experience in a nursery or early years setting.
Understanding of SEN practices and inclusive support.
